Home

As this soap begins we see a large sign that says: Welcome to Watersdale. Population 1300.
Just beyond the sign there is the bustle of a normal morning. School busses driving by, cars driving by, children and adults alike crossing the streets, bells ringing, buildings coming alive with excitement and activity. In the distance a large mansion on a hill comes into focus. Its the Velez Mansion of the rich and powerful Velez family.

The Velez Mansion <Living Room>
Geovanna Jesus-Velez, the 40 year-old wife of David Velez, the heir to the Velez billions, enters the living room of the Velez Mansion and starts to ruffle through some papers. Santa Santiago-Velez, Geovannas 72 year-old widowed and now patriarch of the Velez empire, mother in-law, who hates Geovanna with a passion enters.

Santa: Geovanna, what are you doing?
Geovanna: Oh, mama, I didnt
Santa: Dont call me mama. How many times do I have to tell you? You are to call me Señora (Mrs.) Velez, unless of course David is around. Thats the only time that you can call me mama.
Geovanna: Im sorry Señora Velez. It wont ever happen again.
Santa: Good. Now tell me, what are you looking for?

Geovanna begins to worry and just looks at Santa with a blank stare.

Geovanna: Um, nothing. Just some papers. David sent me down for them.
Santa: Oh, I seewait a minute, David usually sends Bianca for anything he needs.
Geovanna: Well, Bianca hadnt come to our room yet and he really needed these papers.
Santa: Of course. What are they for anyway?
Geovanna: Im not sure. He just explained to me where they wereId better get these up to him. Theyre really important.
Santa: Good idea.

Geovanna starts to leave and David Velez, her husband, begins to enter through the other door.

David: Good morning mama, good morning Geovanna.
Santa: Good morning hijo (Spanish for: son).

Geovanna stops dead in her tracks and begins to get worried again. She turns around.

Geovanna: Good morning.
Santa: David, is this the first time you see Geovanna this morning?
David: Yes, why?
Santa: I guess it just seemed odd that when I came in here she was looking for some papers that she claims you sent her to get.
David: No, I didnt send her for anything. When I woke up she wasnt there.
Santa: So tell me daughter-in-law. What were you really looking for?

Santa gives Geovanna a suspicious look. Geovanna is worried.

Wilson Home <Kitchen>
We see the kitchen of the Wilson Family. Dominique Wilson, a 31 year-old English teacher, wife and mother is mixing a batch of pancakes and is daydreaming when Kyle, her 31-year old husband, who is a fireman, walks in.

Kyle: Good morning honey!

Dominique jumps and drops the bowl; pancake mix goes everywhere.

Kyle: Whats wrong with you Dominique?
Dominique: Nothing dear, you just scared me thats all. Dont worry about this. Ill clean it up and make you and the kids another batch.
Kyle: Its okay Dominique. Ill have some toast and Alexis and Matt will have cereal.
Dominique: Oh my god, I forgot to wake the kids. Im so sorry Kyle but could you make the kids cereal and toast for yourself while I get them up?
Kyle: Of course dear. Anything for you.

Dominique runs up the stairs. Kyle looks off into space and thinks out loud.

Kyle: What has gotten into you?

Park Street
Jason Forbes, a low-class teenage factory worker and Lindsey Velez, also a teenager, of the millionaire Velez family, are walking down Park Street together holding hands.

Jason: Lindsey, are you sure its all right if we continue seeing each other?
Lindsey: Yes, of course, why wouldnt it be?
Jason: Because, youre a Velez and Im just plain old Jason Forbes.
Lindsey: Youre not just plain old Jason Forbes. Youre special, youre special because I love you and you love me and thats all that matters, right?
Jason: Well yeah, but what about your family? You know they would never approve.
Lindsey: Why are you saying all this? Dont you want to date me anymore?

Jason and Lindsey both look shocked.

Quinn Home <Front porch/Foyer/Living Room>
Jennifer Quinn, a 37 year-old bank teller, wife and mother is on the front porch of her home saying goodbye to Ellen and Amy, her two teenage children. Ellen and Amy are all the Jennifer has, since her and her husband Sams marriage has gotten a bit rocky. Jennifer is known to still treat them like five-year olds.

Amy: Bye mom.
Jennifer: Bye Honey. Ill see you later, and dont forget about your softball practice after school.
Amy: I wont. Wheres Ellen, were going to be late if she doesnt hurry up.
Ellen: Im right here.
Amy: It took you long enough.
Ellen: Its your fault.
Amy: My fault? What are you
Jennifer: Girls.
Amy: Sorry.
Ellen: Sorry.
Jennifer: You know I hate it when you fight like that.
Ellen: Yeah, but its her fault.
Amy: I dont understand you because how could it
Jennifer: Stop. You both need to learn how to respect each other. I dont know where you get it. Promise me that youll try your best to get along.
Amy: I promise.
Jennifer: Ellen?
Ellen: Promise.
Jennifer: Good. Now get goingyoull be late.

Ellen and Amy walk off the porch and head down Castle Street towards Hudson High. Ellen and Amy were always fighting and it was no different this morning. Ellen was always cold and seemed evil, and even though Amy would sometimes start the arguments she was always nice and loving towards everyone. Ellen and Amy were once very close, but that changed as soon as they hit the age of 10. Jennifer and Sam, their parents thought that it was just a stage, but even now, as they are seniors in high school they loathe each other.
In recent years Jennifer and Sams marriage had been tough. Sam was an officer, and one of the best at that, at the Watersdale Police Department, but he had been let go because he was shot in the back and had many back troubles. His doctor and police chief ordered him to leave his occupation that he loved so much. Ever since that day three years ago Sam had never been the same and he was getting worse. He had gotten heavy into drugs and alcohol. He had just stopped doing drugs and alcohol just a few months ago and Jennifer thought that this would be the start of an even better marriage, but she would soon find out that she was wrong, and now that Sam couldnt be a police officer, couldnt do drugs or alcohol he had grown more bitter towards his entire family, especially Jennifer. Jennifer vowed to get him to come around again and to be the Sam she married. Jennifer goes into the house and wraps her arms around Sam who is sitting on the couch.

Jennifer: Hey Honey.
Sam: Hi.
Jennifer: Is something wrong?
Sam: Yeahyou need to stop hanging all over me so get off.

Jennifer pulls away and looks at Sam in shock from behind him.

Wilson Home <Matts Bedroom>
Dominique and Kyles children; Alexis Wilson, a 15 year-old freshman in high school is just finishing getting her 10 year-old brother, Matt ready for school.

Matt: Alexiswheres mommy?
Alexis: Shes probably downstairs making our breakfast.
Matt: But she always wakes me up and gets me dressed. Why didnt she do that today?

Before Alexis could answer Dominique walks into the room and Matt sees her.

Matt: Mommy!

Matt runs into Dominiques arms and she picks him up.

Dominique: Look at you twoall dressed and ready to go.

Dominique kisses Matt on the cheek and puts him down. She walks over to Alexis.

Dominique: Thank you so much Alexis.
Alexis: Youre welcome. It was no problem, I know how scatterbrained youve been lately. I just thought Id help out and get Matt out of bed and ready to go to school.
Dominique: Thank you.

Dominique hugs Alexis and gives her a kiss. She turns to Matt.

Dominique: Now, what do you say that we go downstairs and have some cereal.
Matt: Yeah! I love cereal!
Dominique: Okay then, lets go.

All three of them head downstairs to the kitchen.

Cup-A-Joe <Couch Area>
Maria Cortez, a 20 year-old Hispanic girl, is working at Cup-A-Joe, the local coffeehouse, and sees her twin sister Mariah. She goes over to her.

Maria: Hey sis, whats up?
Mariah: Oh nothing, Im just waiting for Richard.
Maria: Are you guys going somewhere special today?
Mariah: No, not really. I think were just gonna hang around here for a little while, but I think were gonna be going to Lakeview Plaza later.
Maria: Cool, maybe I can join you guys.
Mariah: I dont know, I think Rich wants us to be alone today.
Maria: Oh, I see. All right then, I guess Ill tell Mike I can work all day.
Mariah: Hey, dont work all day. Go out and do something.
Maria: With who? Im not popular like you are.

Mariah just looks at Maria confused.

Velez Mansion <Living Room>
Back at the Velez Mansion Geovanna is still worried and Santa is suspicious. Geovanna quickly answers.

Geovanna: Well, it was supposed to be a surprise for Joses birthday and I didnt want anyone to know about it until his party.
Santa: Im sure. Wellif youll excuse me I have a meeting to get to this morning. I will meet you both at the country club for the Douglas Richmond Party this evening, yes?
Geovanna: Yes, mama, goodbye.
David: Yes, goodbye mama.

Santa leaves.

David: So, whats this surprise for Jose all about?
Geovanna: Oh, Im not going to tell you! Just because you caught me doesnt mean that Im going to tell you!
David: Okay, Ill let it go. Listen, I have to get some breakfast and go over to the office. I have an important meeting with a client. Would you like to join me for breakfast?
Geovanna: No, thanks. I have to finish preparing Joses surprise.
David: All right. Suit yourself. Ill see you later.

David kisses Geovanna and leaves. Geovanna smiles and says out loud to herself.

Geovanna: Good thinking Geovanna. That should buy me some time to find out exactly what I need to destroy Santa and reign as the only Señora Velez.
Park Street
Lindsey waits for an answer from Jason but he just looks at her.

Lindsey: Well? Is that what it is Jason?
Jason: No, nono, of course not. Its just that I know how powerful your family is and I know what they can do to me if they dont approve of us being together. I dont want any problems.
Lindsey: When the time is right well tell them.
Jason: But will they be okay with it?
Lindsey: It doesnt matter. Ive been trying to tell you this. It doesnt matter. We love each other and we know it. It doesnt matter what my father thinks, what my mother thinks, what my grandmother thinks, or what my brother thinks. Well love each other forever and nobody will get in our way.
Jason: I feel the same way, but for some reason I think were wrong. I just hope Im wrong and that everything works out.
Lindsey: It will, dont worry, it will.

Quinn Home <Living Room>
Jennifer looks shocked at what Sam just said to her.

Jennifer: What did you say?
Sam: Youre always on top of me. Cant you just lay off once in a while?
Jennifer: Youre my husband.
Sam: That doesnt mean youve gotta be all over me all the time.
Jennifer: Sam, youve never been the same since you were ordered to leave your position as and officer on the Watersdale PD three years ago. I wish the Sam that I once knew and loved with all my heart would come back to me. Dont you love me anymore?
Sam: Ill be back later.

Sam gets up and tries to leave to leave the room. Jennifer runs to him and turns him around.

Jennifer: You didnt answer my question, and Im not finished talking to you.
Sam: Well Im finished talking to you. Do you understand? Back off Jenny!

Sam says as he grabs Jennifer by her shoulders. He then walks out of the room. Jennifer looks terrified.

Park Street
Jason and Lindsey are still sitting on a bench on Park Street.

Jason: I feel much better. As long
Lindsey: Oh my god. Here comes my brother. Go away.
Jason: I thought it didnt matter what youre family said about us?
Lindsey: Well it does now. Just this once, please. Until the time is right and we can tell everyone. If Jose were to find out about us now he would go postal.
Jason: Fine.

Jason gets up and walks towards Jose Velez, Lindseys overprotective older brother, and passes him. Jose continues walking and sees Lindsey on the bench.

Jose: Hey sis, whatcha doing?
Lindsey: Nothing. Just sitting herethinkingand stuff. I was about to go to Cup-A-Joe so Ill see you later.

Lindsey stands up and starts to walk towards Cup-A-Joe

Jose: Wait a minute. We have to talk. I know whats going on here with you.

Jose says in a stern voice and Lindsey turns as white as a ghost as she turns to face her brother.

Cup-A-Joe
Mariah looks up and Maria in shock.

Mariah: Popular?
Maria: Yeahpopular. Youre so popular. Everybody knows who you are and Im just Mariahs twin. You dont have any idea what that feels like. You always have something to do and this is my life, working here.
Mariah: Dont be so hard on yourself. Besides, a lot of people know you and you do a lot of things too. Youre always hanging out with that Tom Limy kid, and you know Ellen Quinn, and you know Rich and Megan Shirly.
Maria: WellToms the only one that I really know, and I only know Ellen Quinn because she was in one of my classes. Weve only talked twice. I know Rich because of you, and Megan Shirly because of you. Mostly everybody I know is because of you. The popular one.

Mike Mitchell, the 30 year-old owner of Cup-A-Joe and Marias boss, calls out to her.

Mike: Maria, I could use your help over here.
Mariah: Theres another person you know, Mike.
Maria: Hes my boss. I have to go.

Maria goes behind the counter. Richard Lee, Mariahs rich handsome 20 year-old boyfriend, who is already a doctor, walks in.

Richard: Hey you.
Mariah: Hey.

Richard gives Mariah a kiss and sits down next to her.

Richard: Is something wrong with Maria?
Mariah: Yeah, she all depressed because she says that shes not popular like me.
Richard: Thats weird.
Mariah: Yeah, it is. Shes never said anything like that before. I wonder what has gotten into her to make her say something like that.
Richard: I must be lucky not to have a twin.
Mariah: Not to have any brothers or sisters period.

Richard and Mariah laugh.

Mariah: You know, I told Maria that were going to the Lakeview Plaza today. Would it be all right if she came along?

Hudson High <Main Hallway>
Ellen and Amy Quinn walk into Hudson High. They walk down the hallway to get to their lockers. Vanessa Joyce, Amys best friend, who is also a senior, is standing at the end of the hall.

Ellen: Theres your annoying little friend.
Amy: Shut up Ellen.
Ellen: Is that the only thing you know how to say?
Amy: No, but I know how to say youre a bitch though.
Ellen: You know, I wish you would just die.
Amy: Our feelings are mutual.
Vanessa: Are you two fighting again?
Ellen: Who made this your business brat?
Amy: I did.

Ellen rolls her eyes, sighs and walks away.

Vanessa: I though me and my sister were bad.
Amy: You guys dont have anything on us. Its really sad how much we fight. But its seriously not my fault.
Vanessa: Youre my best friend Amy, but it takes two to fight the way you and Ellen do. You must start it sometimes.
Amy: Ill admit it Vanessa, I do start with her sometimes, but she is always making stupid comments that she knows will make me mad and she does stuff that she knows will make me mad. Its like we have different parents or something.
Vanessa: Thats a bit extreme, dont you think?

Just then Ellen walks by them and rolls her eyes at them again. Amy sighs and looks back at Vanessa.

Amy: Not really.

Velez Mansion <Living Room>
Geovanna goes over to the phone and dials one number.

Geovanna: Yes, this is Señora Geovanna, could you send Miranda to the living room? Thank you.

Geovanna hangs up and waits for Miranda Perez, a maid at the mansion, who is also her confidant, to arrive.

Geovanna: Miranda will help me. Ill be able to find out everything about Queen Santa.

Wilson Home <Kitchen>
Dominique, Alexis and Matt walk into the kitchen.

Matt: Morning dad! Im ready for my cereal.
Kyle: Okay, here you are. Youre favorite.
Alexis: Good morning dad.
Kyle: Morning honey. Heres your cereal.
Dominique: Thank you dear.

Dominique gives Kyle a kiss on the cheek.

Matt: Whats on the floor mommy?
Dominique: Oh, there was an accident this morning. I dropped the bowl of pancake mix.

Dominique begins to clean it up.

Alexis: Mom, are you okay? Youve been acting sort of weird lately.
Dominique: No, Im fine. Im right as rain.

Dominique smiles weakly.

Kyle: Hurry with that cereal guys, or youll be late for school.
Matt: Finished!
Kyle: All right!

Kyle and Matt smile. Alexis finishes her cereal.

Alexis: Are you ready to go Matt?
Matt: Yeah.

Matt and Alexis kiss their parents goodbye and leave through the back door. Dominique finally finishes cleaning up the spilled pancake mix.

Kyle: I better get going honey. Ill see you later.
Dominique: All right dear. See you.
Kyle: Youd better hurry up yourself, or youll be late for work.
Dominique: Dont worry honey.

Dominique and Kyle kiss and Kyle leaves. Dominique begins to daydream again.

~Flashback~

We see Dominique holding a baby. A nurse comes up to her.

Nurse: Mrs. Wilson, what did you and your husband decide for the babys name?

Dominique: Its MatthewMatthew Velez.

Nurse: You mean Wilson dont you?

Dominique: Yesof course. Im so sorry. His name is Matthew Wilson.

~Flashback Ends~

Dominique: Nobody can ever find out. Especially not Kyle.

Dominique doesnt realize it but Roger Wilson, Kyles irresponsible brother who lives with them, walks into the kitchen and hears Dominique.

Roger: What are you talking about Dominique? What cant nobody find out?

Dominique gasps when she hears Rogers voice.
