Episode #9 - March 16th, 2001 The Continental Country Club Jodi and Paul look down the lobby at Brad, who has just walked in. Jodi gets very nervous and turns around and looks up at Paul. Jodi: "What are we going to do. It's only a matter of minutes before he sees us." Paul: "Don't worry. I'm going to turn around and pretend that I'm dusting off this table. He probably won't notice me. You just walk towards him like normal, okay? He won't even know that you were over here with me." Jodi: "Okaythat's fine. That'll probably work, but, will I ever see you again?" Paul: "Don't be silly Jodi, you see me around town all the time." Jodi: "Thats not what I mean. Is there a chance of us ever getting back together?" Paul: "You're married...I'm a widower." Jodi: "I don't love Brad...I really don't. I'd much rather be with you, and he wouldnt have to know anything. I could continue to be Mrs. Bradley Blake, but I'll be with my ex-love." Paul: "I'd love for us to be in a relationship again, but it's impossible. You better get going. Your husband is getting closer." Jodi: "Oh, thats right. Ill find you later. We can talk then." Jodi turns and begins to walk towards Brad. Paul is about to turn around when he sees Jodi stop dead in her tracks. He looks up to where she is looking. A blonde woman in a slinky black dress had just wrapped her arms around Brad's neck and they are kissing...right there in the middle of the lobby. Jodi turns around and walks back to where Paul is after Brad and the woman walk into the ballroom. Jodi: "He didn't even notice me. He kissed her so out in the open. Who does he think he is?" Paul: "Who was that woman...do you know her?" Jodi: "Unfortunately, yes. Her name is Blanche. She's married to Marcus Cobblestone...they live in Richmond." Paul: "Is this Marcus guy here?" Jodi: "Im sure he is. I could have sworn that I saw him earlier, however, I don't think that Blanche would be kissing guys so out in the open if he were here. She's so frightened that if he were to catch her doing something wrong then he'd cut her off." Paul: "How sweet rich love is." Jodi: "Tell me about it. That's why I want to be back with you." Paul: "I told you that it's impossible." Jodi: "Can I change your mind?" Paul: "You can try, but it probably won't work." Jodi takes Paul's hand and leads him around the corner where nobody can see them. She brings his head down to her face and passionately kisses him again. The Continental Country Club Lindsey turns off her cell phone after talking to Jason and after Geovanna tells her to say goodbye. Lindsey: "What is it mama?" Geovanna: "Why are you calling Jason from here?" Lindsey: "I have to keep him posted on whats happening." Geovanna: "What if your abuela were to catch you? She might discover that you are not obeying what she said, or even worse...that I knew you were seeing Jason and didn't tell them or try and stop it before." Suddenly they hear a voice. It's Santa. Santa: "Too late. I already know." Lindsey and Geovanna gasp and turn around and look at Santa. They are terrified. Santa: "Did I hear you right?" Geovanna: "What exactly did you hear?" Santa: "I heard enough to know that Im very angry with both of you. Lindsey, I told you to stop all contact with that boy...and you Geovanna, how could you know about this and not tell me, or even David. What other secrets are the two of you hiding?" Lindsey: "Abuela, listen..." Santa: "No. You close your mouth and listen to me!" Geovanna: "Santa" Santa: "The same goes for you Geovanna! Now listen, Lindsey, I warned you twice already to stay away from that boy. This is the last time that I'm going to say it...you are to stay away from him! The next time I catch you or find out that you have had contact with him the consequences will begin, and don't think that I'm joking." Geovanna: "Santa, you have no right to talk to my daughter this way." Santa: "I do and I will. I'm her grandmother and a better motherly figure then you are." Lindsey: "Abuela!" Santa: "Lindsey, please excuse your mother and I. How about you go and see your father." Lindsey: "I want..." Santa: Lindsey, go. Lindsey looks at her mother and she nods so Lindsey leaves. Geovanna: "How dare you speak to me and my daughter in such a way?" Santa: "I will talk to you any way I please." Geovanna: "No Santa, you won't..." Santa: "What did I tell you about calling me Santa?" Geovanna: "I really don't give a damn! I will no longer call you Seņora Velez." Santa: "Yes, you..." Geovanna: "I'm not through speaking. So, now, close your mouth and listen to me! There is one thing that I want you to understand. Lindsey is my daughter and if I don't think her seeing Jason is in her best interest then I'll tell her so, but Jason is a fine young man and I will not disturb their love...I wont have you disturbing it either. That's all I have to say. Goodbye Santa." Geovanna turns and walks away. Santa looks at her in disgust and shock. The Continental Country Club Andrea is sitting at the table and Brittany comes up and sits down next to her. Andrea: "It's about time you got back. I was wondering what happened." Brittany: "With what?" Andrea: "When Douglas came over here and practically dragged you away without a word." Brittany: "Oh...well that's what I wanted to come and tell you. He took me outside to his car and said that he wants to take me somewhere." Andrea: "Where?" Brittany: "I don't know. He said it's a big surprise. I didn't want to just leave without telling you, and asking you." Andrea: "What do you mean asking me? You don't have to ask me if you can somewhere with him. You can go wherever he wants you to go." Brittany: "Okay. I'll see you later." Andrea: "Have fun!" Brittany gets up, takes her purse and leaves. Andrea can only smile. The Continental Country Club Mariah and Richard are dancing. Mariah notices Brittany run past them. Mariah: "I wonder what's wrong with Brittany." Richard: "Probably nothing. She's probably just excited that she's with Douglas." Mariah: "Not as excited as her mother though." Richard: "What is your obsession with Brittany and Mrs. O'Keffe?" Mariah: "I don't have an obsession with them...why would you say that?" Richard: "Because of all the comments that you made to Mrs. O'Keffe and how much attention that you are paying to them." Mariah: "I'm not paying that much attention to them, Richard. I'm still shocked by Mrs. O'Keffe's actions, that's all, she wants Brittany to marry a rich manthat's why she brought her here tonight...that's the only reason. Don't you think that something is wrong with that?" Richard: "But it's their business, if that's what they want to do then let them. Don't let it upset you." Mariah: "I'll try to forget it. How about we just leave? You don't have to be here for anything else, right?" Richard: "No, I don't think so, I'll go and get our coats." Mariah: "Okay." Richard walks off to get the coats. Mariah looks at Andrea in disgust. Andrea is still just smiling and now talking with some people. South Sea Watersdale Hospital Martin, Julia and Sam continue arguing and getting louder and louder. Beyond where they are standing Jennifer is laying in the hospital bed. Her eyes remain closed, but she begins to move her head. She mumbles something in a weak, low voice. She continues saying the same thing over and over. Jennifer: "Sam...he pushed me. Sam pushed me. Sam pushed me. Sam pushed me." Still Martin, Julia and Sam are yelling at each other all at the same time and none of them can hear Jennifer. Chief Carter runs into the room. As soon as he walks in he sees Jennifer moving her head and mouth. Chief Carter: "Hey! Hey! Stop it! Shut-up!" This gets everyone's attention and they all look at him. Chief Carter: "I think Mrs. Quinn is coming to." They all turn around and see Jennifer moving her head back and forth. They can tell that she is trying to say something. Julia and Martin run over to her side. Sam stays behind and watches. Julia: "She's trying to say something." Martin: "Jenny...honey? Can you hear me? It's daddy." Jennifer: "He...Sam...he..." Martin: "What about Sam, honey? Keep talking. Tell us." Jennifer continues to keep her eyes closed and tosses and turns her head back and forth. Julia: "Jenny." Jennifer: "Sam...no...no...Sam pushed me. Sam pushed me." Sam steps back when Julia, Martin and Chief Carter look at him after Jennifer says this. He looks terrified and Martin, once again, looks like hes ready to pounce. The Continental Country Club Santa comes back to the table where David and Jose are. Santa: "David, Jose, I have something to tell the both of you. It's about Lindsey and Geovanna." David: "What is it mama?" Santa: "You will never believe what I am about to say, but know that it is entirely true." Jose: "Okay abuela, just tell us. Come on." Santa: "I just found Lindsey sneaking around here calling that low-class boy that she says she's in love with. She disobeyed what I said to her." Jose: "I knew she'd do this." Santa: "That's not all. Geovanna knew about Lindsey's relationship with this boy. She approved of it and agreed to keep it a secret from us." David: "You're right mama, I don't believe it. Geovanna wouldn't do something like that. She always says that she wants the best for her children and she wouldnt of allowed Lindsey to continue seeing Jason, and she most definitely would have told us about it." Santa: "I'm telling you David, Geovanna knew. Geovanna knew and she didn't tell us or try to discontinue the relationship." Jose: "Are you sure abuela? Where did you hear this?" Santa: "Straight out of your mama's mouth." David: "I still can't believe it...I'm sorry mama. I'd have to hear it from Geovanna herself." Santa: "Then talk to her. I guarantee that she knew about this little love affair. I confronted her and told her what I thought of it. She even had the nerve to yell at me." David: "Geovanna yelled at you?" Santa: "Yes, and very hatefully." David: "I'll talk to her, but I really can't believe what you're saying. Geovanna has always been so nice to you and like I said, she always says that she wants the best for her children and if she knew about this then she would have told us about it when she first found out." Santa: "Fine...you talk to her...but like I said, I guarantee that she knew." David and Jose look at Santa, who looks extremely serious. The Continental Country Club Jodi and Paul stop kissing. Paul looks at her in shock. Jodi: "Did I change your mind?" Paul: "Almost, but I still have to say no." Jodi: "Paul, come on, we could be together again." Paul: "This shouldn't be your biggest concern right now." Jodi: "But it is." Paul: "But it shouldn't be. You have your husband, your children need you." Jodi: "My children won't loose me if I start dating you...and I told you...I don't care about Brad." Paul: "For now the answer is still no." Paul walks back out into the lobby from the secluded hallway where they kissed. Jodi rushes after him and grabs his arm gently and he turns around. Jodi: "I understand your reasoning. I want you to know though, that I'm always here for you and if you ever decide that you want to be with me again, just tell me so. I'll be back in heartbeat." Paul: "After tonight, I want you back more then ever, but I know that it's not possible right now, and I'm glad you understand that." Jodi: "Of course." Jodi then notices Brad and Blanche walk back into the lobby: arm and arm. Jodi: "I don't want to take the chance of Brad seeing us so I'm going to go straight up to him and that little tramp and give them both the surprise of their lives." Jodi walks away from Paul and he casually watches as she walks up behind Brad and Blanche. She clears her throat, loudly. Brad and Blanche both turn around and their jaws practically hit the floor. Jodi: "That doesn't look like the face of happiness, darling. Aren't you glad to see me?" Jodi says with a girlish voice just before she gives Brad the first real kiss that he's gotten from her in ages. This makes Brad looks even more surprised and Blanche looks as though she is about to faint. Jodi: "Blanche Cobblestone...fancy meeting you here...with my husband. Where's yours?" Blanche: "Um...um...he...well..." Jodi: "Yes?" Blanche: "He's not here. He left early." Jodi: "Oh...is that why you're able to be hanging all over my husband...and kissing him so passionately? I must give you credit...I mean, didn't you know that I was here?" Blanche: "No, as a matter of fact, Brad didn't mention that you were here as well." Jodi can tell that Blanche and Brad are still very nervous by her presence so she decides to continue with her game. She's never had so much fun. Jodi: "He didn't? Oh...well, Bradley, don't you remember that you practically ordered me to come here tonight?" Brad: "No, I...I dont." Jodi: "Well, you must have been even more drunk then I thought. But anyway, Blanche, I was wondering were you got that gorgeous dress?" Blanche: "Um...well...um...Mar...Marcus brought it to me from Italy." Jodi: "Marcus, Marcus, Marcus. You have such a wonderful husband. How nice of him to buy you such a gorgeous dress! And while we're on the topic of Marcus...how do you think that he'd react if I told him about your where-about this evening, and of course whom you were with and what you were doing?" Blanche: "I...I...I...um..." Jodi: "That's what I thought. But, don't worry, I'm sure you'd be able to move back in with your mommy and daddy, right?" Blanche: "I...I have to go." Jodi: "Ciao!"(Italian for goodbye.) Blanche gives a quick glance at Brad and Jodi and quickly flees from the country club. Brad looks at Jodi furiously. Jodi smiles pleasantly back at him. River Ridge Park A black Lincoln Continental pulls up in River Ridge Park and parks on the street path. A chauffeur gets out of the driver's side of the car and opens the back doors. Douglas and Brittany get out. They stand on the sidewalk. It's a beautiful winter night. There are a few clouds in the sky, but many stars can be seen, along with the full moon. There is a subtle breeze. Brittany looks around the park and looks out at the water. Brittany: "It's such a beautiful night." Douglas: "You're beautiful." Brittany blushes and changes the subject. Brittany: "This is the surprise you have for me?" Douglas: "Calm down Brittany, its not over." Brittany: "Oh, but this would have been just fine, you know? I mean, it's such a beautiful night and you didn't have to bring me here at all, you didn't even need to dance with me at the country club. Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy that you did." Douglas: "Good, I'm glad." Brittany: "Well? Don't keep in suspense any more. Tell me what else you have planned." Douglas leads Brittany to a small dock and harbor. There are large and small boats and sailboats lined up in the water off the dock. They walk down it all the way to the end where there is the largest boat out of all of them there. Brittany: "I never knew that this dock was here, but what does this have to do with what you have planned?" Douglas: "Wow, you're an impatient one, aren't you?" Brittany giggles. Brittany: "I'm sorry." Douglas: "Don't be. It's cute. Now come on. Let's get on." He takes her hand and leads her into the boat. Douglas: "This is my boat and we are going to spend the rest of the evening here. I have all kinds of food and deserts waiting for us." Brittany: "Oh Douglas, you shouldn't have done this." Douglas: "But I wanted to. Come on." They walk deep into the massive boat. South Sea Watersdale Hospital Julia walks up to Sam and looks him square in the face. Julia: "You lied. You pushed my daughter down the stairs and caused her to be here. I hurt her...and I'm going to make sure that this is the last time that you ever lay a hand on her. Chief Carter, arrest this man." Chief Carter: "I'm afraid I can't do that." Julia: "Excuse me?" Sam: "He can't arrest me, Julia." Julia: "Chief Carter, you have to, you now have reason to put him in jail. He tried to kill my daughter." Chief Carter: "How do you know that he tried to kill her?" Julia: "You heard what Jennifer just said." Chief Carter: "Mrs. Randall, your daughter is in a coma, she has a concussion. She has no idea what she is saying." Julia: "My daughter is telling the truth." Chief Carter: "That may or may not be true." Julia: "Are you calling her a liar?" Chief Carter: "No, Im merely saying that she doesn't know what she's saying. She could say something so bazaar, and so untrue, but she won't know. She's only talking." Martin walks over by Julia. He wraps him arm around her. Martin: "But Chief Carter, don't you find is strange that she said Sam pushed her when that is just what we were accusing him of? Anyone with common sense can see that he did indeed push her." Chief Carter: "To be totally honest with you, I do believe that Sam caused your daughter to end up here today, but I can't go on that and what someone in a coma said, I'm sorry. When I can do something to get results for you then I will. For now, I'll take Sam home so you can be alone with your daughter until visiting hours are over, which will be very soon." Julia: "We're spending the night here. I'm not leaving my daughter's side." Martin: "Chief Carter, would you mind taking my granddaughters back home with their father?" Chief Carter: "No, I'll take them." Martin: "Thank you." Julia and Martin go back and sit next to Jennifer. Chief Carter and Sam leave. Julia: "You have to come back Jenny. You have to wake up and tell us what happened. You have to." Martin: "Don't worry Julia, she will. Don't worry." They sit there next to the bed. Martin has his arm wrapped around Julia. She has her head on his shoulder as she weeps. The Continental Country Club Brad looks at Jodi furiously. Jodi continues to smile back. Jodi: "So, you really don't remember when you told me to come to this party...that you didn't want to come...that you needed to stay home, because you were drunk?" Brad: "No, I don't remember." Jodi: "You must've..." Brad: "Shut up Jodi and listen to me. I don't appreciate what you did a little while ago. You disrespected Blanche Cobblestone, what if she tells Marcus and they decide to stop helping this family?" Jodi: "Don't worry. I don't think she'll be telling her husband about this night. She'd have to tell him that she was cheating on him with you." Brad: "She was not." Jodi: "Brad, I wasn't born yesterday. I saw the two of you hanging all over each other...kissing and so on. I never knew that you cheated on me. I thought that I might be able to start having feelings for you again." Jodi looks disappointed and Brad gets a sad look on his face. He looks down and thinks about what Jodi just said. River Ridge Park Douglas and Brittany are sitting on a sofa drinking a glass of champagne. They are laughing and talking. Brittany: "This boat is amazing, Douglas." Douglas: "I want you to call me Doug. Douglas is too formal and we're aquatinted now so, you can call me Doug." Brittany: "Okay, Doug. Your boat is amazing." Doug: "Thank you. I"m glad you like it." Brittany: "I do." Suddenly Brittany stands up. Brittany: "Wait a second. What am I doing here?" Doug: "What do you mean?" Brittany: "This is so romantic. I feel like a slut. We just met tonight and now we're here and this is just way too much. I have to go." Brittany grabs her long coat and starts to head to the stairs to get to the deck. Doug stands up and grabs her arm and pulls her close to him. Doug: "I like you Brittany. I don't want you to go. I want you to be my girlfriend. Will you be my girlfriend?" Brittany looks at him in shock and is totally speechless. The Continental Country Club Lindsey walks to the table and sits down. David, Santa and Jose stop talking when she arrives. She says nothing to them and then Jose speaks. Jose: "So, you were calling Jason?" Lindsey stays quiet. Jose: "Mad that abuela caught you?" Santa: "That's enough Jose." David: "Lindsey." She looks at her father. Lindsey: "Yes?" David: "Don't you understand why we are doing this?" Lindsey: "No, not really." David: "It's for your own good." Lindsey: "I know what is for my own good. I'm a big girl now. I know that dating Jason is for my own good. Listening to you and abuela and Jose is not for my own good." David: "Don't speak to me that way." Lindsey: "It's the truth papa. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is." David: "Do you feel the same way about your mama? I didn't hear you say her." Lindsey: "I feel comfortable with mama. I can tell her anything and she'll support me." David: "Is that what happened with Jason? You told her about him and said that you were happy so she left you two alone and decided not to tell me or your abuela?" Lindsey: "I don't know...ask mama." David: "I would like to speak with her. Do you know where she is?" Lindsey: "She went back to the mansion." David: "What?" Lindsey: "She left. Abuela made her mad and she said she needed to take care of something immediately." David and Santa look puzzled as they try to figure out what Geovanna is up to. The Velez Mansion Geovanna opens the door and rushes into the mansion. She bumps right into Miranda. Miranda: "Seņora Geovanna, what are you doing back so early? The party isnt over until midnight. It's only ten-thirty." Geovanna: "I needed to leave, but why are you still here?" Miranda: "I was just taking care of some last minute things, I was on my way out." Geovanna: "I see that, but would you mind staying for a little longer. I need your help again." Miranda: "For the same thing as earlier?" Geovanna: 'Yes, I need to destroy Santa as soon as possible. Come on, I'll tell you what happened when we get to the library." Geovanna walks quickly ahead and Miranda follows. |
