Episode 25 - August 4, 2001

Richard is kneeling down in his driveway, behind Mariah's car, holding Katie's body up, trying to revive her. Mariah is close-by, looking on in horror, along with Katie's ghost, whom neither, Mariah or Richard, can see or hear.

Katie: Come on Richard…please, help me. You've got to help me stay alive. I can't die without knowing that you still love me. Without hearing you say the words.

All of a sudden Richard looks up at Mariah. He looks very angry and yells at her.

Richard: Are you waiting for a special invitation to call 9-1-1?

Mariah: Oh…I'll call.

She reaches into her small black purse and pulls out her silver cell phone. She presses a button and then shoves it back into her purse.

Richard: I thought you were going to call?

Mariah: My battery is low, I can't. I'll go inside, and call.

She turns and runs back to the house.

Richard: Don't worry Katie. Nothing is going to happen to you, I swear. You're going to be just fine. You have to be.

Katie's ghost looks on and hears Richard say this.

Katie: Oh my God. He does still love me. I know it because of what he just said. I have to pull through this now. If I do, then I know that he and I will be together forever. Little Miss Mariah will be finito! (Translation of finito: finished)

South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Megan's Room)
Brittany walks into Megan's room by herself. She walks over to Megan's side.

Brittany: Megan, I've come to say goodbye. I don't have anymore faith that you're going to live. I want to believe that you will be able to pull through this, but I just can't do it anymore. The situation is to negative to be able to have even an ounce of positive perspective on it. I don't know if you can hear me…but if you can, then please, don't think that I'm a bitch for saying this, because I really don't want to. I love you so much, as if you were my own flesh and blood. Nobody has ever been as good to me as you've been in the past few years. Maybe this is why I was so lucky in finding Doug. Maybe it was destiny that made this happen. I don't know, maybe I'm just being silly now. At any rate, I love you so much, and I hope you rest in peace.

Brittany kisses her hand and then puts her hand on Megan's forehead. She then leaves the room. As soon as she's gone Andrea walks out of the private bathroom of the room. She walks to Megan's side.

Andrea: Too bad Brittany thought so much of you, Megan. If she had hated you then I'd have to do everything I could in order to keep you alive. But, that's not how it is. She loves you, and that means I have to pull the plug on you. If you die…Brittany will suffer.

Andrea smiles and giggles.

In the emergency room of the hospital, Anthony, Christina, Edwin and Jodi are still talking. Anthony, Christina and Jodi are trying to figure out what is going on with Edwin.

Christina: So, Edwin…what are you up too?

Edwin: I've already told you. I'm not up to anything. I was just giving the kid directions…geez. You guys don't have to bite my head off.

Jodi: I don't think you understand what our concern is.

Edwin: You don't have any concern for me.

Jodi: What did you say?

Edwin: Never mind.

Jodi: No, you listen to me. I've given you everything you've ever wanted and more. I care about you and love you just as much as I love your sister…

Edwin: What about Anthony? You don't love Christina and I as much as you love Anthony. Why is that, mother?

Jodi: You didn't let me finish my sentence.

Edwin: I didn't need too. I know that you adore and love Anthony with all of your heart and soul. You worship the friggen ground he walks on.

Anthony: Don't speak to mother that way!

Edwin: Maybe that's why you love him so much. He's always there to stick up for you, no matter what. He could be in California and he'll still be able to stick up for you and fight your battles. Anything for mommy-dearest, isn't that right Anthony? You've butt-kissed your way into mom's heart. Everything for mother…must do this for mother, right?

Anthony: You're not normal.

Edwin: And you're not my brother. How's that for a news flash?

Jodi gasps and falls into a seat. Christina looks at her mother and Edwin, confused. This shocks Anthony as well, as he stands there with wide eyes staring at Edwin.

Cup-A-Joe (Table Section)
Maria walks up to where Jennifer and Dominique are seated across from each other. She sets down their order on the table.

Maria: Enjoy, and let me know if I can get anything else for you.

Jennifer: Thank you, Maria.

Maria walks away from the table. Jennifer takes a sip of her coffee and turns her attention back to Dominique.

Jennifer: So, Dominique, are you going to tell me about the accident?

Dominique: It really was nothing. I'm fine now and I'd prefer to just forget about it.

Jennifer: You usually tell me everything. What's so different about this time?

Dominique looks away from Jennifer. She thinks to herself: "A lot is different this time. I'm sorry Jenny…I just can't tell you about this. It's too risky."

~Flashback~

Dominique is walking trough a fancy restaurant, headed for the bathroom. She bumps into a handsome man about her age, or a little younger. They stare at each other, intrigued.

~Flashback Ends~

Jennifer: Dominique…hello? Dominique!

She snaps out of her flashback and looks at Jennifer.

Jennifer: What's wrong with you? What were you just thinking about?

Dominique: Nothing.

Jennifer: You're hiding something, aren't you? I can tell. We've known each other too long for me not to know.

Dominique: Hiding something?

Jennifer: Come on, Dominique. Tell me what it is. What's going on that has you so troubled?

Dominique stares at Jennifer nervously as she thinks of something to say.

Velez Mansion (Foyer)
Geovanna walks into the mansion. She has just come from her usual evening stroll through the garden. She immediately begins to climb the stairs to her bedroom so she can get to bed. She is almost to the top when she hears the front door open. She turns and sees Lindsey walking through the huge cherry wood door.

Geovanna: Hi, darling. How's it going?

Lindsey: Hello mama.

Geovanna: What's wrong, baby?

Lindsey: Jason. It's still bothering me. I want him back so badly.

Geovanna walks back down the stairs and embraces Lindsey.

Geovanna: Of course you do. It's got to be so painful for you. I tell you what. How about we go to the kitchen and I'll make you some of that milkshake that you like so well.

Lindsey: That's okay mama. I think I should just go to bed.

Geovanna: Come on, Lindsey. It might help you get your mind off of Jason for a little while. We can talk about the good old times when you were in middle school and high school. Do you remember how every night you'd ask me to fix you a milkshake? We'd talk about our days and just indulge in those thick chocolate shakes.

Lindsey: I remember. I always cherish those times.

Geovanna: Come on, then. Let's make another moment now, that you can cherish forever.

Lindsey: Okay…I give in.

Geovanna: Of course you do. Let's go.

Geovanna wraps her arm around Lindsey, and they walk in the direction of the kitchen.

Richard's Home (Kitchen)
Mariah is pacing back and forth in front of the telephone hanging on the wall.

Mariah: Oh God. I don't know what to do. I feel really bad that I hit Katie, but she came out of nowhere. I didn't see her. It's not like I hit her on purpose. She may be a nasty bitch, but still, I wouldn't do something like that to anyone, on purpose. On the other hand, if I call an ambulance and they are able to save her, then Richard and I will be back to square one. She won't stop her manipulations. It's probably better if she just dies. She'll be out of our lives forever. Now all I have to do is wait for an ambulance not to arrive. Please forgive me Lord. I don't want to do this, but I don't have any other choice.

Mariah walks out of the kitchen and heads for the driveway. Out there, Richard is still holding Katie, hoping that she comes to. Katie's ghost is still standing around trying to figure out how she'll pull through this.

Katie: What am I going to do? Maybe if I concentrate really hard on coming back to life, I will.

She squats down near her body, on the opposite side of Richard. She closes her eyes and concentrates on being one with her body and coming back to life. She is interrupted by Mariah running back up the driveway.

Mariah: An ambulance is on the way!

Richard: Good. They know that it's my house, so they should be here quickly.

Mariah thinks to herself: "Damn it! I forgot about that. Once he realizes that they aren't coming he'll know that I never called." Katie's ghost turns and looks at Mariah.

Katie: Oh my God! I can hear what people think too? I really am dead! This bitch didn't call an ambulance for me. I can't believe it. What am I going to do?

South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room)

Christina: What do you mean by saying that, Edwin? That was mean! You almost made mother faint.

Edwin: Yeah, I know. She'd faint if anyone ever said anything bad about her precious Anthony.

Jodi: What did you mean by what you said, Edwin?

Edwin: I meant that I don't consider Anthony as my brother.

Jodi: Why do you say that?

Edwin: Mother, you're a smart woman. Figure it out.

At that moment, Dr. Lewis walks up to Jodi, Christina, Anthony and Edwin.

Dr. Lewis: Excuse me, Jodi. I just wanted to tell you that Brad is going to be just fine. He hadn't eaten all day and on top of that, he was drinking. That's what caused him to faint. He was just very weak. He can go home right away.

Jodi: Thank you.

Dr. Lewis walks away. Jodi stands up and looks at her children.

Jodi: Listen, I just want this night to be over. Before I let you leave, I just want to tell you that I love all of three of you very much. Just remember that, okay?

Christina: I love you too mother.

Anthony: I love you too.

Edwin: Can we leave now?

Anthony: Edwin, you…

Jodi: Anthony. Don't worry about it. I'll see you at the mansion later.

Jodi turns and walks down the hall. She passes Brad on the way. Brad, Anthony, Edwin and Christina leave the hospital. Jodi stops at the nurse's station.

Jodi: Hey Patty, I'm going to go and check on Megan Shirley and two other patients and then I'm going to head on home for the night, all right?

Patty: No problem Dr. Blake. I'll see you tomorrow.

Jodi heads to Megan's room, where Andrea is ready to pull the plug on her. She is holding onto the plug. She looks down at Megan.

Andrea: Megan…with my vote, you are the weakest link. Goodbye!

She slowly begins to pull the plug out of the wall.

Cup-A-Joe (Tables Section)

Dominique: I've already told you, Jennifer. There's nothing wrong with me.

Jennifer: And I've already told you. You can't hide anything from me. We've known each other too long for that. Besides, I witnessed how you were just thinking about something. It was like you were on a different planet.

Dominique: Jenny, I'm fine, period. Okay?

Jennifer: I still don't understand why you won't tell me.

Dominique: Because, there's nothing to tell. You're reading way too much into my emotions. I was only just thinking about Kyle.

Jennifer: What about Kyle?

Dominique: Just the whole situation he's in. I mean, you can't even begin to imagine how hurt he is about Roger's death. That was his only brother and he was younger. I'm sure he never thought that he'd have to attend his little brother's funeral.

Jennifer: It really is horrible. I don't know who could have done this. Roger didn't have any enemies, did he?

"Besides me?" Dominique thought.

Dominique: No, I don't think he did. I really can't think any off the top of my head.

Jennifer: I know you can't. That's because he didn't have any enemies. He was a great man. Loyal to his family and friends, good at heart. I just can't believe that he wasn't married.

Dominique: Yeah, I know what you mean.

Jennifer's cell phone rings. She answers it and only says: "I'll be right there." She then hangs up and puts the phone, back into her purse.

Jennifer: I'm sorry Dominique. I have to get home. That was Amy. She said that Ellen had decided to leave the wake early, so she walked, but she hasn't arrived at home yet.

Dominique: That's odd, but I'm sure she's fine.

Jennifer: Yeah, I know she is. She's a big girl.

Dominique: Well, give me a call as you hear from her, okay?

Jennifer: I will.

Jennifer walks out of the coffeehouse.

Velez Mansion (Kitchen)
Lindsey and Geovanna are sitting across from each other at the island table. They are both sipping from large glasses, full of chocolate milkshakes.

Lindsey: Mother, this has got to be the best milkshake that you've ever made.

Geovanna: You say that every time I make you a milkshake.

Lindsey: Well, I guess they just get better every time.

Geovanna: So, are you feeling a little bit better, now?

Lindsey: Chocolate shakes always make me feel better. I don't think it'll last long, but thank you. You always know exactly what I need.

Geovanna: I didn't want to bring it up, but I talked to your father about your suspicions of abuela and Jose.

Lindsey: It's not a suspicion. I know that Santa and Jose were the ones who caused Jason's murder. There's no doubt in my mind about it.

Geovanna: I just wish you had some type of hard evidence that we could use. We would probably be able to get Santa locked up.

Lindsey: Don't forget Jose. I want both of them to pay and to feel sorry for what they did.

Geovanna: How do you plan on doing that?

Lindsey: I have something in mind. Don't worry about it, though. I have it all under control. I want to go to bed now, so, I'll see you in the morning.

Geovanna: Okay, baby. Goodnight. I love you.

Lindsey: I love you too, mama.

Lindsey walks out of the kitchen. Geovanna puts the glasses into the sink. She begins to walk out of the kitchen. She turns around and looks towards where she was sitting.

Geovanna: Where did I put the key for my bedroom?

She checks her pockets, but then remembers.

Geovanna: I must have left it on the bench, in the garden. I have to go and get it.

She leaves the kitchen in a hurry.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Megan's Room)
Andrea is continuing to pull the plug out of the wall, but slowly. The door creaks open and Andrea quickly stops. She turns to see Jodi standing in the doorway.

Jodi: What the hell are you doing, Andrea? Are you trying to kill that poor girl?

Jodi goes over and puts the plug fully back into the wall. Andrea thinks to herself: "Actually, I am trying to kill her. I almost succeeded, until you walked in."

Jodi: Why were you taking that plug out of the wall? You know that if it comes out of that electrical socket, Megan would die.

Andrea: You see, what happened was that, I was trying to put the bed up, so she could be in a different position for a bit. I couldn't get that stupid remote thing to work, so I thought if I unplugged it and then plugged it back in, it would work.

Jodi: But, why on earth were you unplugging that plug? You're a nurse here, for heaven sake. Don't you know what all of the cords and wires are for?

Andrea: Yes, of course I do. But, I guess I was just drawing a blank on what plug was what. I'm really tired.

Jodi: Well, good thing I walked in when I did.

Andrea: That's right. You just saved Megan's life.

Jodi: I'm going to take a final look over her and then I'm going to be headed on home. What time are you leaving?

Andrea: Probably in about an hour or two. I have a lot of paper work to finish up.

Jodi: Well, Megan's the same as she was before. Make sure that there's a nurse assigned to her all night, will you?

Andrea: I believe that Patty and Rae are already assigned to her for all night.

Jodi: Okay then. I'll see you tomorrow.

Andrea: Bye.

Jodi leaves the room. Andrea walks back to the bed and looks down over Megan.

Andrea: All right. It's time to finish what I started.

She places her hand back on the plug, ready to yank it out of the socket. She does, but sparks shoot out of the small holes and Andrea screams and gets jolted back about two feet. Her lifeless body lies on the floor. An almost clear arm and hand come into view. It takes hold of the plug and puts it back into the electrical socket. Then a woman's voice is heard.

Woman's Voice: I'm here with you Megan. Don't you worry! I won't let anything happen to you. As for you, Andrea, I'm warning you. Leave my little girl alone!

Quinn Home
Jennifer walks into her home to find her daughter, Amy, and her husband, Sam, both pacing back and forth in the living room.

Jennifer: Okay, I'm here.

Amy: Mom, I don't know where Ellen is, but I'm worried.

Jennifer: Sam, what's going on?

Sam: I really don't know. Amy said that Ellen wanted to leave the funeral home, so she decided that she'd walk home.

Jennifer: What time was that at?

Amy: It was only a little bit after you and Mrs. Wilson left.

Jennifer: It doesn't take that long to get here. Did you call any of her friends? Maybe she stopped by one of their houses and just forgot to call here.

Sam: There were no messages on the answering machine, and we've tried calling everybody that we could think of.

Amy: We even called my friends, to see if maybe they saw her. It's like she disappeared.

Jennifer: Don't say that. She's fine, I know she is. She'll walk through that door any minute. You'll see.

Amy walks to the front door and goes out onto the porch. She looks down the street.

Amy: I hope you're right, mom. If anything happened to her, I'd blame myself. I was so mean to her before she left the funeral home. Come on, Ellen…come home. Be all right.

Amy continues to stand out on the porch, alone, looking for Ellen to come walking down the street.

Richard's Home (Driveway)

Richard: Where the hell is that ambulance, Mariah? Are you sure that you called?

Mariah: Yes, I called. They said they were on their way.

Richard: Well, I don't understand what's taking them so long.

Katie's Ghost: It doesn't help that the Puerto Rican bitch didn't call an ambulance at all.

Richard: Mariah, I want you to stay here with Katie. I'm going to call 9-1-1 myself. Maybe if they know it's me, they'll get here quicker.

Mariah: No! You can't do that.

Katie's Ghost: Ha! You just made a big mistake.

Richard: What did you say?

Mariah: I mean, I already called. I'm sure the ambulance will be here soon.

Richard: I just want to call back and make sure. Just stay here. I'll be right back.

Richard runs toward his home.

Mariah: Damn it. If he calls, they'll tell him that they never got a call from me. Uh! What am I going to do? Wait…I've got it!

She runs to the house and searches around the side of it. She finds a gray colored cord and yanks it off the siding. She then pulls out her pocketknife from her purse and splits the cord in two. Inside, Richard has just dialed 9-1-1. He hears the ringing suddenly stop. He then hears nothing.

Richard: Damn! What's wrong with this phone.

Mariah hears what Richard said and rushes back up the driveway, where Katie's body is still lying. Katie's ghost begins to lay herself down on top of the body. Soon, Katie begins to move her head back and forth. Richard is walking out of the house and sees this. He runs up to her.

Richard: Katie. Katie! Can you hear me? Katie!

Katie continues to move and soon she opens her eyes and looks up at Richard. Mariah thinks to herself: "No, this can't be happening. She was supposed to die."

Richard: Oh my God. I can't believe this. It's a miracle. Don't move, okay? I want to check you out, so I can see if anything is broken.

Katie: I'm fine, Richard. Don't worry about it. Just help me up, please.

Richard: Are you sure?

Katie: Yes. I don't feel any pain.

Richard: Okay, then. Come on.

Mariah looks on as Richard helps Katie to her feet.

Mariah: This is a miracle.

Katie: It sure is. You're lucky that I'm alive, that you didn't kill me.

Mariah: What do you mean, that I didn't kill you?

Katie: Hello? That was you that hit me with the car! Talk about short-term memory.

Mariah: I did not hit you on purpose. You came out of nowhere.

Katie: Sure I did. Listen Richard, I was walking back towards the house, when she swerved and hit me, straight on.

Richard: I don't believe you, Mariah. How could you do something like that? You swore to me that you would never do something like that on purpose.

Mariah: I didn't. Either, she's lying or she has some sort of concussion.

Katie: Don't try and make excuses, Mariah. You won't be able to lie yourself out of this. I know exactly what happened, and you're going to pay.

Mariah: Do you believe this, Richard?

Richard: Yes…I have to say that I do.

Mariah: I can't believe you! I can't believe what I'm hearing! I have to go.

Mariah jumps into her car and drives out of the driveway. Richard and Katie walk back to the house.

Velez Mansion (Gardens)
Geovanna walks into one of the rooms of the large and nicely manicured Velez estate gardens, to retrieve her bedroom key that she had left on the bench, earlier. She finds it immediately and proceeds to quickly leave the garden. On her way up to footpath, along the side of the house, she hears a light sobbing coming from above her. She looks up towards Lindsey's bedroom window, to find her standing on the ledge. She screams and Lindsey looks down at her, eyes full of tears.

Geovanna: Lindsey, honey…what are you doing?

Lindsey: I can't live without him, mama. I can't do it. I have to die, so I can be with Jason. I have to be with him.

Geovanna: No! You can't do that! Go back into your bedroom. Climb back in.

Lindsey: No, mama. This is it. I'm going to jump.

Geovanna: I said no! Get back into your bedroom, right now! Go, Lindsey!

Lindsey: I love you, mama. Don't cry for me. Just make sure that you tell Santa that my suicide is her fault. If she had not killed Jason, then I wouldn't be doing this.

Geovanna: No! No, Lindsey! Don't do it!

Lindsey begins to lean forward. Geovanna screams and covers her eyes. When she uncovers her eyes, she is crying. She looks around and then back up. She can't see Lindsey, anywhere. All of a sudden, she hears David's voice from above. She looks up to see his head poked out of the window.

David: I've got her, honey. Come on up here.

Geovanna: Oh, thank God. I'll be right up!

She runs down the footpath, to the front door. Up in Lindsey's room, she is sitting on the floor and David is kneeled down in front of her. She is crying her eyes out, while David tries to talk with her.

David: What could make you do such a thing, Lindsey? Why would you want to kill yourself?

Lindsey: I…I wa…I wa…

David: Hija, you have to stop crying. I can't understand a word that you're saying. (Translation: 'Hija' means 'Daughter.')

Geovanna walks through the door. David stands up. She runs over to him and hugs him.

Geovanna: Thank God you saved our baby. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost her.

David: I heard you screaming and calling her name. I thought you were in here. I came in and found her standing on the ledge. I almost didn't catch her.

Geovanna: But you did. That's the only thing that's important.

Geovanna then goes over to Lindsey, who is now lying on the floor, crying into the plush rug.

Geovanna: Lindsey. Lindsey, listen to me. Lindsey…

Santa entering the room interrupts her.

Santa: What's going on in here?

Lindsey bolts up to her feet and stares at Santa in a very evil tone of eye. She stops crying almost instantly. She walks up to her.

Lindsey: Get out of my bedroom. I hate you. I don't want to see your face. Just go.

Santa: Lindsey, I'm appalled! How dare you speak to me that way!

Lindsey: After what you did to me, you're lucky I don't do worse.

Santa: I'm confused. I'm sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about.

Lindsey: Cut the crap! You killed Jason! You took him away from me! I hate you for that and I'll never forgive you! Now, get out of my face!

Santa: Listen…

Geovanna goes over and grabs Santa by the arm, and practically drags her out into the hall.

Santa: What exactly do you…

Geovanna: Caja te! (Translation: Shut up!) You've hurt my daughter by having the boy that she loved murdered. Now you walk into her room and try and fix everything? Act like nothing ever happened? You'll never know how deeply you hurt her. Now, I'm giving you fair warning. Stay away from my daughter, and stay out of her life. I'll go to any and all lengths to make sure you are finished meddling in her life. Do I make myself clear?

Santa says nothing. Geovanna walks back into Lindsey's room and slams the door.
