Funeral Home (Viewing Room C)
Jennifer walks back into the room where the casket is. She goes to the kneeler and kneels down on it and begins to pray for Roger. Dominique goes and stands nearby, waiting and listening to what Jennifer says.

Jennifer: Lord, watch over Roger. Help Kyle find whoever did this horrible thing. Roger did not deserve this. He was a good man.

Dominique sighs at the sound of that and, without thinking, she blurts out.

Dominique: My God! He wasn't a good man. Doesn't anybody but me realize that?

Dominique realizes that she said that out loud and everyone looks at her in shock. Kyle comes up behind her and yells.

Kyle: What the hell did you just say?

Dominique stands there, scared and nervous. She turns around slowly to face Kyle.

Kyle: Did you just say that Roger wasn't a good man?

Dominique: Me? No, I would never. Roger was a wonderful man.

Kyle: Then who were you talking about?

Dominique: Honey, relax. I was just referring to whoever did this to Roger. I heard Jennifer say that she hopes you can find whoever committed this horrible act of violence. I was only agreeing. I didn't mean to say it out loud, and certainly didn't mean it for Roger.

Kyle: Oh, I see.

Dominique: Yes. You see, I wouldn't say anything bad about Roger. You know that I loved him as if he were my own brother.

Kyle: I know, and I'm sorry for acting the way I did. I should have realized who you were really talking about.

Dominique: It's all right, honey. Don't worry about it.

Amy and Ellen were standing close by listening and watching what was going on.

Ellen: I bet Dominique was talking about Roger when she said that he wasn't a good man.

Amy: What?

Ellen: She's always so mean, so I wouldn't put it past her to say such an awful thing at his wake.

Amy: You would know about mean and awful.

Ellen: What is that supposed to mean?

Amy: Remember when mom was in the hospital last week?

Ellen: Yeah, what about it?

Amy: I seem to recall someone, namely you, being awfully mean at the hospital. When mom flat-lined, it didn't even bother you that she might have died. You even went as far as saying that you told us she would die. You even called grandma, grandpa, Dominique and me saps for believing that she would recover.

Ellen: It was hard on me and that's how I was being strong for myself.

Amy: That's bullshit and you know it. You're just so terrible that you don't even realize what you do and how it affects the people around you.

Ellen: Whatever, Amy. You don't know the first thing about me.

With that, Ellen turns and walks out of the room. Amy shakes her head in disgust and then goes over by her mother and father, who are talking with some people.

Richards Home (Living Room)
Richard runs into the room after hearing the glass shatter. He sees Mariah squatting down on the floor, covered in glass. He rushes over to her and helps her up. Katie is still on the outside, looking in through the broken window. Katie and Mariah stare at each other in anger.

Richard: Would one of you like to tell me what the hell just happened in here?

Mariah: Yes, I'll tell you exactly what happened.

Katie: She'll probably lie about it.

Mariah: Katie, you'd be really wise to shut your mouth, before you dig yourself into a bigger whole then you're already in.

Richard: Mariah, will you please just tell me what happened?

Mariah: Okay. I came over to visit you and found that bitch still here. Rich, she was supposed to move out of here, and live by herself in her own apartment. I even helped her in finding that perfect place at the Pier Side Apartments.

Richard: Yes, I know. We'll discuss that later, but why is Katie out there, and why is my window broken?

Katie: You're window wouldn't be broken if your little girlfriend had tossed me out here, like I was some piece of trash.

Mariah: Like you were some piece of trash? Honey, you are a piece of trash. There's no like about it.

Katie: You bitch, that's the last time I'm going to let you get away with insulting me.

Mariah: Oh yeah? What are you going to do? You've already tried to kill me with that brick you tossed through the window. And let's see…you've tried to steal my boyfriend countless times.

Katie: You're going to be sorry, Mariah Cortez. You'd be smart to watch your back.

Mariah: Is that a threat I hear coming from your mouth?

Katie: You do catch on fast, don't you?

Mariah gives Katie an evil look as she leaves the premises. Richard wraps his arm around Mariah's shoulders and leads her to the couch. They sit beside each other.

Richard: I'm so sorry about what just happened.

Mariah: So am I. I want you to listen to me. I want her out of here. If she's not out of this apartment and out of your life by the end of the week, then I'll be out of your life. I mean it this time. I'm not playing this game anymore. If you love me and want to be with me, then Katie's has to go.

Mariah looks at Richard sternly. He's speechless, after hearing this.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room)
Paramedics run through the automatic double doors that lead into the emergency room of the hospital, with the stretcher that Brad is lying on. He has regained consciousness and is yelling and demanding to be let go. Anthony, Christina and Edwin are following the paramedics.

Brad: I demand that you stop this instant! I want to go home! Nothing is wrong with me! Let me go!

Paramedic: We're just going to have a doctor check you out. It's for your own good.

Brad: Don't you try and tell me what's for my own good! I want to go home!

Brad continues yelling until the stretcher stops at the nurse's station. One of the paramedics talks to the nurse. Anthony, Christina and Edwin catch up with them and stop. Brad sits up in the stretcher and tries to get off. An African-American woman, who is a nurse, comes over and pushes him back down onto the stretcher.

Brad: Excuse me, but do you know whom you just pushed?

Nurse: Yeah, some stubborn, arrogant jerk who doesn't know what's good for him.

Brad: How dare you speak to me this way! I demand to be let go! I want to go home! Nothing is wrong with me! I'll sue this damn hospital!

Jodi comes around the corner from the other hall.

Jodi: I thought I heard your big mouth.

Brad: Jodi, tell these rude people to let me go! I don't want to be here…I'm fine!

Jodi: What happened? Why are you here anyway?

Anthony: He collapsed in the study. I was talking with him and he was acting strange…

Jodi: He's always strange.

Anthony: Well, strange, even for father. Anyway, I asked if he was all right and he said yes. Not even a minute later, he collapsed. Edwin called an ambulance…

Brad: So, it was you, you little brat!

Edwin: I'm a little brat for helping you? See if I ever help you again, you bastard! I couldn't care less if you die, now!

Edwin turns and runs down the emergency room and out of the hospital.

Jodi: Edwin! Edwin! Come back here!

Brad: Let the brat go. How dare he speak to his own father in such a manner!

Jodi: Take him into an examination room. Someone will be in to see him shortly.

Paramedic: Yes Dr. Blake.

The paramedics wheel Brad away, as he continues to yell about wanting to go home.

Christina: Who is going to check father? Do you think he'll be okay?

Jodi: I'm sure he'll be fine. But I can't say for sure because nobody has checked him out yet. I won't do it though. Maybe I'll tell Dr. Lewis to check him out. Heaven, help him. You know how your father is.

Christina: He is quite stubborn, isn't he?

Jodi: Yes. I'm going to talk to Dr. Lewis about seeing your father now. Will one or both of you please try and find out where your little brother is?

Anthony: I'll try and find him.

Christina: I'll help.

Jodi: Thank you both, so much. I'll call you guys on one of your cell phones if I find out anything about your father.

Christina and Anthony nod and they leave the hospital, in search of Edwin.

Velez Mansion (Grand Room)
Geovanna walks into the grand room of the mansion, where David is having a drink.

David: Good evening mi amor! (Translation of "mi amor" - my love)

Geovanna: Don't 'mi amor' me, señor! (Translation of "señor" - sir or mister)

David: What? Where did that come from?

Geovanna: How dare you plot the murder of the boy that your own daughter was in love with!

David: The murder of…what?

Geovanna: You know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't play stupid with me, David!

David: Geovanna, I seriously don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.

Geovanna: You really are serious, aren't you?

David: Yes…that's what I just said.

Geovanna: So, you didn't know that Jason Forbes was murdered?

David: I had no idea. When did this happen?

Geovanna: Just this past Tuesday night.

David: Where?

Geovanna: River Ridge Park. He and Lindsey were supposed to meet there, but when she arrived he was dead. She said that she heard three gun shots. She was frightened, so she ran to where she was supposed to meet Jason, hoping that he was already there so he could comfort her. She was shocked to find that he was the one that had been shot.

David: I can't believe this.

Geovanna: Lindsey is devastated. She told me that she believed that you, your mother and Jose were in on it.

David: I wasn't. I would never want to do such a thing. I mean, I didn't want her seeing the boy, but I wouldn't murder him to put a stop to their relationship. It must have been one of his enemies.

Geovanna: You're right, and I know exactly which enemy it was.

Geovanna had poured herself a drink. She takes a sip from it. David is curious as to whom exactly she is speaking about.

Richard's Home (Living Room)

Richard: Are you serious about all of this, Mariah?

Mariah: Yes, I'm very serious. Do you think that I want another woman, who obviously wants to have a romantic relationship with you, living here? Rich, I was able to tolerate it for almost a month. But, I can't anymore. Not when she's acting this way.

Richard: I don't think that she wants to have a romantic relationship with me.

Mariah: How could you be so blind? It's so obvious!

Richard: I don't know, Mariah…

Mariah: I do know! She wants to be with you again. Why would she be acting the way she is? Look at all of the evidence. If you do, then you'll see that I'm right. First she comes here when she finds out that she was transferred to here for that job. Why didn't she go to a hotel or find an apartment ahead of time?

Richard: Maybe…

Mariah: Don't come up with excuses for her. I'll tell you why she came here. She came here because she knew that you lived here and she knew you lived here alone and that you wouldn't turn your back on her…that you would welcome her into your home with open arms. What she wasn't expecting, was for you to already be over her. She still thinks that you and her belong together. She's trying to break us up so that she can have you back. Don't you remember everything that happened at the hospital a few weeks ago?

Richard: Of course I remember and it did seem like she was trying to ruin our relationship. But I've changed my mind. I don't think she'd do such a thing. She's not a manipulator.

Mariah: I can't believe that I'm hearing you say this…I…I…you're so stupid. I can't stay here anymore…I can't. You're being too ridiculous.

Mariah stands up and walks to the door. She turns and looks at Richard.

Mariah: Remember what I said. Either Katie goes, or I go. Call me when you've decided.

She walks out of the house quietly shutting the door. Richard remains seated on the couch and puts his face into his hands. He listens as Mariah opens her car door, gets in, closes the door, starts the car and drives out of the long driveway onto the street. Then, suddenly he hears a car screech to a stop and a loud bang. He quickly stands up and looks towards outside. He softly thinks: "Mariah."

Funeral Home (Viewing Room C)
Many people have left, but still, some remain. Ellen walks over to Amy, who is sitting alone on a couch.

Ellen: Hey.

Amy: Hey.

Ellen: Mom left with Dominique. They said they were going to the coffeehouse.

Amy: Is dad still here?

Ellen: Yeah. He's still talking with Kyle. I think I'm going to go home though.

Amy: You're going to walk?

Ellen: Yeah. It's not that far. Tell dad that I've left.

Amy: I don't think you should go, Ellen. I mean, it's pretty late and you'll be walking by yourself.

Ellen: It's okay, really. Why should you care anyway? You hate my guts.

Amy: I don't hate you. Just because I think you're rude, mean and obnoxious doesn't mean that I hate you. You're my sister and I'll always be here for you and love you no matter what.

Ellen: Yeah, okay…whatever.

Amy: You see. That's what I mean. Why can't you just say thank you and tell me that you feel the same way?

Ellen: Because I don't. You're a spoiled brat. On top of that you've always given me a hard time. You're just like mom…a bitch.

Amy stands up in a rage and gets into Ellen's face.

Amy: You need to look into the mirror sometimes. See how you act yourself. Then you can tell me who the bitch in this family is. How could you even dare to call me a bitch…no less mom. You're unbelievable! And you know what? I couldn't give a damn what you do, even if I wanted to. So, go and walk home by yourself. Maybe you'll do us all a favor and get lost.

Amy walks away from Ellen and goes to the other side of the room. Ellen leaves out of a nearby exit.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room)
Christina and Anthony walk back into the emergency room with Edwin. Jodi runs up to them.

Jodi: Thank God you guys found him right away. Where was he?

Christina: Just down the block.

Anthony: He was right at the corner of Pearl Street and Santiago Avenue. He was talking to another young boy that looked about his age. He looked sort of suspicious, but Edwin said that he was just wondering where the closest corner store was.

Edwin: Do you think I was lying? He was just asking a simple question and I was helping.

Jodi: You were helping someone else?

Edwin: Yes. Isn't that what people do when they see that someone else needs help?

Jodi: Yes, but you're just like your father. He's never helped anyone in his life and neither have you.

Edwin: I resent that. I'm just a capable of helping people as you are. Just because you're a doctor and it's your business to help people doesn't mean that you're the only person that can do it.

Anthony: Edwin, she knows that, and I want you to apologize for speaking to her in such a way.

Jodi: It's okay Anthony. I shouldn't have said what I did.

Christina: But you were right mom. Edwin, you've never even lifted a finger to help anyone at the country club, no less a poor boy from the streets. What's going on? What are you up too?

Edwin looks scared as everyone looks at him suspiciously.

Cup-A-Joe (Table Section)
Dominique and Jennifer walk into the coffeehouse and take a seat at a small, circular table towards the back. Maria walks up to the table.

Maria: Hello Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Quinn. How are you today?

Dominique: I'm fine Maria, thank you.

Jennifer: I'm good…how are you? I can't believe you're still working here.

Maria: Oh, I'm doing all right. What do you mean you can't believe I'm still working here?

Jennifer: Just that it seems like you've finally found a good job for you. You've been working here for almost two years. Besides that, you've been such a God-sent to this coffeehouse. Before you got here…well, you know how terrible it was doing. If you ask me, you should be the manager…not that Mike fellow. He's never around anyway.

Maria: Thank you Mrs. Quinn.

Dominique: What about that lovely twin sister of yours? How is she doing?

Maria: Mariah? She's fine. She's still in school, but she'll be graduating next year. Then hopefully she'll get hired at South Sea Hospital.

Dominique: That's wonderful. She has always wanted to be a doctor.

Maria: Yes, I know. It looks like she's going to become one too.

Dominique: What about you? Are you still going to school?

Maria: Yes. I graduate next year as well.

Dominique: Excellent. And what do you plan to do?

Maria: I'm not sure yet.

Dominique: I'm sure you'll find something. Surely you don't want to work in a coffeehouse for the rest of your life. Just follow in Mariah's footsteps and I'm sure you'll do fine. She's never failed, so why should you, right?

Maria: Yeah…right. So, can I get you something?

Jennifer: Yes...please. I'll have a small decaf and a éclair.

Dominique: I'll have a small regular coffee, please.

Maria: Is that it?

Jennifer: That's all I want.

Dominique: Yes that's it.

Maria: I'll be right back.

Maria walks away. Jennifer is looking at Dominique's arm, which is still in a sling. She thinks to herself: "Why won't she tell me how she broke her arm? I'll find out sooner or later. Maybe I'll find out now."

Jennifer: Dominique…you never told me how you broke your arm.

Dominique: Sure I did.

Jennifer: No you didn't.

Dominique: Well, it was just in a little car accident. There's not much else to tell about it.

Jennifer: How could you not tell me something like that? Why didn't you call me while you were in the hospital? You were so nice to come and visit me, I would have wanted to come and visit you.

Dominique: I know, Jenny, but I was only in the hospital for three days. You were there for almost a week. Your case was much more serious. You almost died, I didn't.

Jennifer: Okay, I understand. But, what are the details? Tell me everything. Where were you…who was in the other car…was there another car…were you alone?

Dominique becomes nervous, as she doesn't want to tell Jennifer about every detail, or she will have to tell her the whole story…the truth…about why she was with David.

Richard's Home (Driveway)
Mariah steps out of her car slowly. She cautiously looks around on the ground. She looks towards the back of her car and sees Katie, lying there motionless.

Mariah: Oh my God…Katie.

She quickly goes over to her and looks down at her in horror. Richard then comes running up the driveway.

Richard: Mariah, are you okay? What happened?

Richard stops dead in his tracks when he sees Katie. He then slowly walks over to where Mariah is standing. He kneels down beside Katie. He checks for a pulse and for a breath. He looks up at Mariah.

Richard: How could you do this?

Mariah: What?

Richard: You killed her, Mariah. You've killed Katie.

Mariah gasps and covers her mouth with her hand. She begins to cry. All of a sudden Katie comes walking up behind her.

Katie: What's going on?

She looks around and sees Richard holding her.

Katie: What the hell? That's me. Wait. I'm dead? I'm dead? No! I can't be! I'm standing right here. I can't die…I can't. That little bitch…this wasn't supposed to happen!

Katie goes to hit Mariah in the back of the head, but she can't, because she is only a ghost.

Katie: I'm not going to die! I'm not going to allow it! I have to fight to stay alive. I have to be with Richard, and until I am, I won't die!

She watches Richard holding her body trying to revive her. Mariah is only standing there looking at what she has done in horror.

Velez Mansion (Grand Room)
David gets up and walks over to where Geovanna is standing and stands next to her.

David: Are you serious, Geovanna? Do you really know who killed Jason Forbes?

Geovanna: Of course I do. You do too.

David: I don't understand.

Geovanna: Don't you see? It was your filthy mother who killed him! She couldn't stand that Lindsey was finally happy so she had to take it all away by killing the only boy that she's ever really loved. I've held my anger in against your mother for long enough. It's time for you to know that I hate her guts and she hates mine. It's always been that way and nothing will ever change.

David: Mama doesn't hate you.

Geovanna: Oh really? Why don't you ask her yourself? Why don't we both ask her how she feels about me? I believe she's in her bedroom.

David: No, I don't need to prove anything. I know that she doesn't hate you.

Geovanna: I don't think that's it at all. I think you're scared to learn the truth. You think we're one big happy family, but you couldn't be more wrong. We're just like every other wealthy family in the world. We're all messed up, so get over it and get used to it already.

David: I can't believe that you're talking to me this way. I can't believe what I hear coming out of your mouth.

Geovanna: Well, believe it. I'm tired of putting on an act for everybody. I'm just tired of it, David. What your mother pulled was the last straw. I'm not taking her shit anymore, and I'm not going to let her dish it out to our children. You're lucky I don't decide we need to move out.

David: You're getting too…

Geovanna: Don't interrupt me! I have one more thing to say and then I'm going to bed. You're mother better watch who she's dealing with, and you can tell her that I said so.

With that, Geovanna leaves the grand room and heads for her bedroom. David sips his drink and looks off into space with a very dazed look on his face.

David: I hope you're wrong Geovanna. I know mama wanted to take it to the next level if Lindsey and Jason didn't stop seeing each other. I just really hope that the next level wasn't murder.
