Quinn Home (Kitchen)
Julia and Martin are sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast.
Martin: For the last time, I'm not leaving, Julia.
Julia: I'm certain that everything is fine now, Martin. I want to go home. We need to give Jennifer and Sam their space. You know that I never liked the idea of staying here to begin with, but I went along with it.
Martin: Yes, but for only about four days.
Julia: It's been long enough! Sam hasn't shown any signs of aggression and he's been quite nice to me. I don't think he's going to hurt Jennifer again. As a matter of fact, I'm starting to believe that he never really hurt her before.
Martin: Not you too. Come on Julia. You know that he pushed her down the stairs…you know it.
Julia: No…I'm really starting to believe that he didn't. I mean, he says that he didn't and even Jennifer says he didn't. Why shouldn't we believe them?
Martin: How did Jenny fall, then?
Julia: Like she explained to us. She tripped and lost her balance. It's an everyday accident.
Martin: I can see tripping…loosing your balance and falling down the stairs, but that doesn't make you hit your head so hard that you almost die. You heard Officer Sullivan and the paramedics that were here when we found her. They said that there was no way that this happened by a simple fall down the stairs. She was forcefully pushed.
Julia: I can't believe it anymore. There's just no proof and no evidence that points to Sam pushing her down the stairs.
Martin: Well, I don't know what to tell you then. I guess Jenny gets that naïve sense from you.
Julia: I'm not being naïve.
Martin: The hell you're not! It's obvious that…
Julia: Just shut up Martin! Don't you snap at me like that! I told you, I want to go home today, and that's all I want to hear about it. Sam didn't push Jenny down the stairs…let it go. Your ridiculous accusations are becoming really old, really fast.
Jennifer walks into the kitchen.
Jennifer: She's right, dad.
Martin looks at Jennifer and Julia, and sighs. He shakes his head in anger.
Velez Factory (Assembly Line)
Paul is at his machine in the assembly line at the Velez's factory. He is making sure the plastic bottles go through and are being filled with water, equally and with no problems. He takes his attention away from the machine for a moment and remembers what happened just two days before.
~Flashback~
Paul stands across from Jason and Lindsey in the kitchen of his home.
Paul: What is it going to be Jason? I want you to make a decision right now. Are you going to stop seeing Lindsey or not?
Jason: I already told you, no.
Paul: Then I want the both of you out of this house. Neither of you have any common sense right now.
Lindsey: With all due respect Mr. Forbes, we do have common sense right now. We are the ones who are planning to stay together through all of this…we believe in our love and we know that we can overcome anyone and anything, including my family.
Paul: When a wealthy young woman and a poor young man fall in love, the wealthy young woman's family is going to step in and do whatever it takes to break the two apart. You don't understand, because they haven't done anything so beyond belief yet. But, you wait and see, if you two continue seeing each other, then what's to come in this relationship is nothing like you've ever seen before, believe me.
Lindsey: You sound like you're speaking from experience.
Jason: He is. He's talking about his relationship with Jodi Prescott-Blake.
Lindsey: You dated Jodi Prescott-Blake?
Paul: Yes, but like your family, her family was against our relationship and they forced her to marry Bradley. They threatened me so many times, but we never listened to them and we continued seeing each other. That is until the day they…never mind. I'm just warning the two of you.
Jason: What were you about to say, dad? You've never told me what the Prescott's finally did to break you and Jodi up.
Paul: That's in the past. I don't want to talk about it.
Jason: Dad…
Paul: Don't try to change the subject. We are talking about your relationship with Lindsey. You've made your decision to continue seeing her, but remember my warning.
~Flashback Ends~
Paul remains in a sort of daze. Suddenly he hears a faint voice calling his name. It gets louder and louder. He snaps back to reality and sees the machine got stuck and the water is overflowing onto the machine and onto the floor. The voice he heard was of Kevin, his manager.
Paul: Kevin, I'm so sorry. I don't know how this happened.
Kevin: I'll tell you know it happened. You weren't paying attention to what you were doing. How many times have I told you that you must pay attention to your machine at all times! You may have just set us back a day!
Paul: I'm really sorry.
Kevin: Just make it stop!
Paul fools around with some gears and buttons at the bottom of the machine and it continues as usual.
Kevin: Good. Now, clean up the mess and remember, pay attention to what you're doing.
Paul: I will, sir.
Paul starts to clean up the water.
Paul: I have to stop thinking about Jason and Lindsey. Jodi too. I have to stop thinking about all of it. Nothing will come of it. I need to get my mind off of it all.
He finishes cleaning up the water as Kevin returns to him.
Kevin: Paul, where is your son? He's supposed to be working right now.
Paul: I don't know.
Kevin: Well, you have a phone call. You can use the phone in my office since the one down here isn't working. Come on.
Paul: Okay.
He follows Kevin.
South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room)
Brittany and Douglas walk into the hospital. They walk to the nurse's station.
Brittany: Excuse me, can you tell me if Megan Shirley is in a room yet?
Nurse: When was she brought in?
Brittany: Last night at about ten or ten thirty.
She types some things into the computer and waits a few seconds.
Nurse: Yes, Miss Shirley was put into a room last night at about midnight.
Brittany: Can we have a pass? We'd like to see her.
Nurse: Are you family?
Brittany: No, but I'm her best friend and this is my boyfriend.
Nurse: I'm sorry, but I can only allow family to see Miss Shirley.
Brittany: What do you mean…why?
Nurse: Doctors orders. I'm sorry.
Brittany: You don't understand. She doesn't have any family in Watersdale.
Nurse: No, you don't understand. The doctor ordered for nobody but family to be allowed into the room. If you're not her family then you get no entry.
Brittany: I'm the closest thing to family that she has here. I'm the only person that is going to come to see her.
Nurse: Listen, I don't care if she doesn't have any family in the entire world. Nobody is getting in unless they are family. I'd be more then pleased to let you in there, but it's not my decision. Now, if you'll please excuse me, I'm busy.
The nurse continues to write on the papers in front of her.
Brittany: What kind of hospital is this? This is crazy!
Brittany storms away from the nurse's station and paces around in the emergency room. Douglas stays at the desk.
Douglas: Excuse me nurse, but can I please explain something to you?
Nurse: If you're going to try and get a pass for you and your girlfriend over there, then forget about it. She's not getting one. I'd appreciate if the both of you would just leave me alone about the whole thing. Don't bother me unless you need medical attention.
Douglas is pulled back by what the nurse says and walks over to Brittany.
Douglas: That nurse is so mean.
Brittany: I know. This is ridiculous that they won't let me in to see Megan. If they're waiting for some kind of family member to come then they're going to be waiting for a long time. God! I should have known that they were going to do that when she asked if I was family. I should have just lied and said I was her sister or her cousin or something.
Douglas: We'll get in, don't worry. I'll talk to Jodi.
Brittany: Oh my God! You're brilliant! I totally forgot about Dr. Blake. Let's go and find her.
They turn and quickly walk down the hall.
Velez Mansion (Geovanna's Bedroom)
Miranda walks into Geovanna's brightly-lit room carrying a breakfast tray. She sees her lying on the floor.
Miranda: Señora Geovanna!
She puts the tray down on the edge of the bed and rushes over to her and kneels down beside her. She tugs on her a little bit and she begins to wake up. She rolls over to face Miranda.
Geovanna: What is it Miranda?
Miranda: You're lying on the floor. What happened?
Geovanna puts her head up and looks around a little bit. She looks shocked but starts to sit up and then stands up.
Geovanna: Oh my God! It was real. It was real!
Miranda: What are you talking about señora?
Geovanna: Last night…last night my mother came to me. She appeared right here in my room.
Miranda: It was probably a dream. Your mother has been dead for so long.
Geovanna: I know and I didn't believe that it was real at first either, but this proves it! I got out of bed and walked over to where my mother was standing and this is the same spot that I remember standing in when she was here last night. I must have collapsed right here after she left.
Miranda: This all sounds too unbelievable. Are you sure it wasn't a dream? You've been known to sleep walk, and that could have happened last night. You were dreaming that your mother was standing here and you felt as though it was so real that you actually got up and walked over to where you thought she was, but collapsed when the dream was over, and you just couldn't make it back to your bed.
Geovanna: No, Miranda! That's not what happened. My mother was actually here. We talked.
Miranda: What did you talk about?
Geovanna: We talked about Santa. She told me the truth…the whole truth! She told me that Santa killed her with her bare hands and that she does have the pearl necklace that I've been looking for.
Miranda: That's impossible señora.
Geovanna: No, it's not! Why don't you believe me?
Miranda: Because, frankly, a person's mother, who has been dead for fifteen years doesn't just show up in their room in the middle of the night.
Geovanna: I'm going to show you that I'm not crazy…that my mother was here last night. When we find those pearls, then you'll believe me.
Miranda: Have you forgotten that the pearls were not in señora Velez's book safe?
Geovanna: That doesn't mean that they aren't someplace else. I wasn't sure if they were before, but now that my mother has told me that they are in the mansion, I believe they are and we're going to find them.
Miranda looks at Geovanna as if she were insane. She shakes her head in disapproval.
Velez Factory (Kevin's Office)
Paul walks into his manager's office and picks up the telephone.
Paul: Hello? This is Paul Forbes.
He is surprised to hear that the voice on the other end is Lindsey.
Lindsey: Hello Mr. Forbes.
Paul: Lindsey, they must have made a mistake in telling me that I had a phone call instead of Jason, but either way he isn't here today. I don't have any idea where he is, actually. Do you?
Lindsey: Yes, as a matter of fact, that's what I called to tell you.
Paul: Oh good, because my manager is furious that he isn't here. Where is he? He needs to get here A.S.A.P.
Lindsey: He can't do that.
Paul: What? Why do you sound so sad when you say that?
Lindsey: Because Mr. Forbes, don't you see…Jason's dead.
Paul is shocked to hear this.
Paul: What? What…what do you mean? You're not serious are you?
Lindsey: Would I joke around about something like this? He was murdered last night in the park.
Paul tries to hold his tears in.
Paul: Do you know who killed him?
Lindsey: No, but we're trying to find out. I won't stop until I do.
Paul: Well, you can stop right now because I know exactly who killed my son.
Lindsey: You do? Who?
Paul: Your family! One of them killed him or they hired someone to do it for them. I warned you!
Lindsey: Oh my God! You could be right. I have to go.
Lindsey hangs up the telephone. Paul hangs up the telephone he was talking on as well. He is left standing in the silent room by himself. He finally breaks down and starts to cry and he sits down into a chair.
Quinn Home (Kitchen)
Martin: What do you mean she's right?
Jennifer: I mean exactly what mom has already told you countless times.
Martin: What…that Sam is innocent?
Jennifer: Yes that is part of it. Sam didn't push me down the stairs.
Martin: Well, maybe I was wrong about that.
Julia: Finally you're coming to your senses.
Martin: Maybe he did something else that made you hit your head. Maybe he pushed you or maybe he hit you himself, or with a blunt object.
Julia: Oh, come now, Martin.
Jennifer: He did nothing to hurt me, okay?
Martin: I don't believe a word of it.
Jennifer: What can I do to convince you that Sam didn't push me or hit me or throw me down the stairs?
Martin: Nothing, because I truly believe that that low-life bastard hurt you, and if you're defending him and lying for him then you're a fool too!
Julia: Martin! How dare you speak to our daughter that way! Apologize right now!
Martin: Listen Jenny, I'm sorry for having to say that. I just don't want you to end up being one of those wives that let her husband hit her.
Julia: Jenny will never end up like that.
Jennifer: Mom's right. Sam doesn't lay a finger on me, and he never will. He loves me and I love him.
Martin: That's what you said about…
Jennifer: Don't you dare bring that up! It hasn't been long since I've gotten over what happened with him and I don't want to be reminded of it. This is nothing like what happened with that bastard! Sam is nothing like him.
Martin: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to remind you of that horrible time in your life.
Jennifer: I just…
Jennifer breaks down and begins to cry. She turns and faces her mother. Julia embraces her and looks over her shoulder at Martin with a sort of evil eye.
Velez Mansion (Geovanna's Bedroom)
Geovanna: Would you stop looking at me as if I was crazy?
Miranda: Yes, if you would stop giving me reasons to suspect such.
Geovanna: Don't speak to me that way. You're my best friend and it hurts me when you say something like that.
Miranda: I'm sorry, but you're talking about your mother appearing to you in the middle of the night. You're vowing to find some old pearls that might be buried at the bottom of the ocean. For heaven's sake, señora. Just give up on the pearls, and give up on getting a meaningless revenge on Santa. Forget about the dream of your mother.
Geovanna: Wait a minute! First of all, I'm not going to say it again. My mother appeared to me. It was real. I wasn't dreaming! Second, those pearls mean a lot to me and I know that they are here in this mansion. Lastly, my vowed revenge on Santa is not meaningless! She killed my mother.
Miranda: Whatever you say señora. Like I've said before I've never heard of someone's mother, who has been dead for fifteen years, appearing to him or her in the middle of the night. It's just crazy. Besides that, you're basing the rest of your plan on what you believe your mother said to you. Don't you think that it's a little odd that you're claiming that you saw your mother standing here telling you things that you've suspected for years? Señora, it's probably your sub-conscious telling you things that you already believe, but through a source that would supply a reassurance for you. Thus making you believe in what you've already suspected even more. You have to face the facts that it was fantasy. You wish your mother would have appeared to you and told you everything you claim she did. Doesn't that make more sense then walking around saying that your dead mother was talking to you in your room last night?
Geovanna: I guess you could be right. But, why are you trying to convince me of this? Don't you want me to search for my mother's pearls and get revenge on Santa for killing my mother?
Miranda: I wasn't playing devil's advocate. I'm not defending Santa. I'm just saying that this obsession of yours is very unhealthy. That was proven last night and today.
Geovanna: What should I do then, Miranda? I truly believe that Santa killed my mother and that she has the pearls in her possession. I just want to avenge my mother's murder and get what's rightfully mine. Is that so wrong?
Miranda: No, but you're going about it all wrong. If you want to avenge your mother's murder and get what is rightfully yours, then you have to do something that you should have done years ago.
Geovanna: What's that?
Geovanna looks at Miranda confused.
Velez Mansion (Library)
Santa is sitting behind her desk in the library. Jose lightly knocks on the door and walks in.
Santa: Are you over your traumatic experience?
Jose: No.
Santa: I wish you would hurry it up and just get over it already.
Jose: I can't. I helped to do something horrible. I always said that I would protect my sister and last night I didn't. I was helping in attacking her.
Santa: You weren't attacking Lindsey. She has nothing to do with it.
Jose: She has everything to do with it. I helped in killing her boyfriend, the love of her life. The whole thing devastates her. I could have stopped it from happening. I could have protected her from this.
Santa: Listen, it's not like anybody is ever going to find out that we had anything to do with Jason's murder.
Jose: That's beside the point that I'm trying to make. I've always said that I would protect Lindsey from anything that would hurt her, but now, instead of protecting her, I helped in hurting her. That's what gets to me. Not the fact that Jason is dead…but the fact that Lindsey is hurt by it and that I was a source that helped to inflict that pain.
Santa: Jason wasn't right for her and they needed to be broken up. I can understand that you're mad about having to hurt your sister's feelings, but that is something that had to be done in order to make Jason disappear. It's just collateral.
Jose: It's going to haunt me for the rest of my life. I helped in killing the love of my sister's life. The way she cried and screamed his name is going to be heard in my head forever. How sad and lonely she looked, I'll always remember it…it'll be with me until the day I die. I can't live like that. Oh, I wish I could take it all back, or do something that would make up for it.
Santa: There is nothing you can do now. It's over. You just have to forget it. Go on with your life as normal.
Jose: I can't. There's no way that I can ever forget it. Every time I see Lindsey, I'll think of last night. Every time I see Paul Forbes, I'll think of last night. I'm telling you, abuela, it's going to be with me for the rest of my life.
Santa: We can't continue to waste our time talking about this. We have other business to take care of as well. Let's go to the factory.
They walk to the door. Santa opens it. Lindsey is standing on the other side. Santa and Jose both looked worried. Lindsey has tears in her eyes and down her face.
Lindsey: It was you. You killed Jason! How could you do this to me?
Lindsey cries as she says this and Santa and Jose look at her afraid that she heard what they had just been talking about.
South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Jodi's Office)
Andrea is sitting with Jodi in her office.
Andrea: I'm so happy that you finally realized that I wasn't lying to you before. It was hurting me so badly thinking that I wasn't your friend anymore.
Jodi: It hurt me too Andrea and once again, I'm sorry for accusing you the way I did. It was just that Bradley made it sound so real…as if you really did tell him my secret.
Andrea: It's fine…really. But, you never did tell me what changed your mind.
Jodi: Brad did, actually.
Andrea: I don't understand.
Jodi: I set him up to see if he would slip and say something that would prove he was bluffing and he did. It was quiet fun watching him squirm. The second he said those words I knew, and I think he knew that he had put his foot in his mouth.
Andrea: What was it that he said?
Jodi: He claimed that I had an affair with Paul Forbes last summer from May to August. He then tried to say that you told him that. I just laughed and told him that he knew that wasn't true.
Andrea: He really did put his foot in his mouth with that one. How stupid of him to make that up. I mean, he knew that it was a guess.
Jodi: Well, what can I say? Brad's never been that bright. Wait…let me rephrase that…he's never had much common sense.
Andrea laughs. There is then a knock at the door.
Jodi: Come in!
The door opens and in come Brittany and Douglas. They both stop and stare when they see Andrea is there as well.
Quinn Home (Kitchen)
Martin lightly takes hold of Jennifer's arm and turns her around so she is facing him.
Martin: I'm sorry honey. It was wrong of me to bring up such an unbearable memory for you. I know that was a very difficult time in your life and the results were horrible. I was just trying…
Jennifer: I know what you were trying to do. You were trying to make me see that I'm repeating what happened all those years ago, but I want to tell you something. I'm not. I'm not making the same mistake as before. I wouldn't be that stupid.
Martin: Okay, if you say so, then I guess there is nothing I can do.
Jennifer: That's right.
Julia: Martin, we better get going now.
Martin: Are you sure that it's okay if we leave Jenny?
Jennifer: Yes, of course. I'm fine. There's nothing to worry about.
Martin: I really wish you would let us stay longer.
Jennifer: You know that the two of you are more then welcome in my home, but I don't need you to stay here with me anymore. I'll be a lot happier when everything is back to normal.
Julia: That's probably the best. Martin, will you go and get our bags?
Martin: Of course.
Martin leaves the kitchen. Julia leads Jennifer to the table and they sit across from one another.
Julia: I want you to know something, sweetheart.
Jennifer: What is it?
Julia: Last week when we found you here I was afraid for your life. When your father started to talk about it being Sam's fault I started to believe it. It was the only logical explanation that I had at the time. I just want you to know that now I know that Sam had nothing to do with what happened.
Jennifer looks away from Julia knowing that she herself had been lying about Sam having nothing to do with what happened to her.
Jennifer: Thank you mom. I wish dad would realize the same thing.
Julia: He will, if hasn't after what just happened.
Jennifer: You know that he's always hated Sam and I think that hatred for him will always be there. He'll always be suspicious of him. I just don't want to have another accident and have dad coming over here accusing Sam of doing it.
Julia: I won't let that happen, honey, because I know that Sam is innocent. He loves you and he will until the day he dies. He's the man for you and if your father has not realized that after almost twenty years, then I don't know what it's going to take.
Jennifer: At least you believe in Sam and me. Thank you. I love you, mom.
Julia: I love you too, baby.
Martin walks back into the kitchen.
Martin: We're ready.
Julia: Okay. Good.
Julia and Jennifer stand up and follow Martin to the front door. They all exchange hugs and kisses and get into the car. They all wave goodbye and Martin and Julia drive off. Jennifer closes the door and turns around to see Sam standing in front of her.
Hospital (Jodi's Office)
Andrea stands to her feet when she sees Brittany and Douglas.
Andrea: Hello Brittany. Hello Douglas.
They look at her suspiciously.
Andrea: What brings the two of you here?
Brittany: We need to speak with Jodi.
Jodi: What about, Brittany?
Brittany: My friend is here and I was wondering if you could let us into see her. The nurse at the nurses station wouldn't give us a pass to her room because we aren't family, but she doesn't have any family. I'm the closest thing to family that she has.
Jodi: Of course you can go into see her. I'll call the nurse's station and tell them to give you a pass.
Brittany: Thank you.
Jodi picks up the telephone and Brittany and Douglas begin to leave.
Andrea: Wait, Brittany.
Brittany stops and turns to face her mother.
Brittany: What?
Andrea: Who's the friend that's here?
Brittany: Megan. Is there anything else you'd like to know? Maybe why Douglas and I are here together?
Andrea: Why is Megan here?
Brittany: That's none of your business. Are you finished, because I don't want to talk to you?
Andrea nods and Brittany and Douglas turn and leave the room. Andrea sits back down.
Jodi: What was that all about Andrea? Brittany looked like she could have killed you.
Andrea: It was nothing.
Jodi: What did you do?
Jodi looks at Andrea suspiciously. Out in the hall, Brittany and Douglas make their way back to the nurse's station for their pass.
Brittany: Did you see how she squirmed when I mentioned you and me being together? She was so shocked to see us together. She thought she broke us up for good. Boy was she wrong.
They continue to walk down the hall.
Velez Mansion (Library)
Lindsey walks past Santa and Jose, right into the library. They turn to face her.
Santa: What did you say, Lindsey? What are you talking about?
Lindsey: I'm talking about my boy friends murder!
Santa: Your boy friend has been murdered?
Lindsey: Yes, he has, and don't you play stupid with me! I know that the two of you had something to do with this. You probably hired someone to kill him…or even worse you killed him yourself.
Jose: Lindsey, I have to tell you the truth. It hurts me to see you like this so I have to tell you the truth.
Lindsey: I know the truth! The two of you had him killed…you had Jason killed! How could you? How could you do this to me, Jose? How about you abuela? How could either of you do this to me? Did you really want us apart that badly?
Santa: Lindsey, we didn't have anything to do with that boy's murder. This is the first we've heard of it. Kevin, the assembly manager at the factory even called me to let me know that Jason Forbes was not in today. I was just about to come and talk to you and see if you knew where he was.
Lindsey: Why would you even bother? You knew that he was dead.
Santa: For the last time, Lindsey. I didn't do anything to murder Jason.
Lindsey: I'll believe that the day that hell freezes over. But that won't happen once you get there!
Santa is shocked by this remark and advances on Lindsey and smacks her. Lindsey holds her face and looks at Santa.
Lindsey: You can smack me for speaking the truth, but deep down, you know that I'm right and that you killed Jason. Nobody else would do this to him. You're going straight to hell. How could you be so heartless?
Santa stares at Lindsey in an evil tone of eye. Jose wraps his arm around Lindsey.
Jose: I'm going to explain everything to you, okay Lindsey. I'll tell you everything.
Lindsey pulls herself out of Jose's grip and steps backwards looking at the both of them. She talks to them in tears as she walks backwards towards the door.
Lindsey: I don't want to hear any of the lies anymore! I'm sick of it. This is the last straw. Killing the love of my life. I still can't believe you did it! Goodbye…forever!
Lindsey turns and runs out of the door. Jose steps forward.
Jose: Lindsey, wait! Don't leave!
Santa grabs Jose's arm before he is able to leave the room.
Santa: Let her go, Jose. Just let her go.
