Episode #20 - June 8th, 2001 River Ridge Park (Closed Concession Stand)
There is an ambulance and two police cars and fire truck are parked on the street in the park, next to the closed concession stand where Jason was just shot. Their sirens are still on and blaring through the park. There are many people standing around watching. Lindsey stands with Officer Sullivan near a police car. Lindsey looks like she is in a trance. Jason's body has now been covered with a blue tarp. Officer Sullivan: Miss Velez, can you please tell me once more what happened? Lindsey remains standing there, looking out to nothing with a blank stare. She doesn't respond to Officer Sullivan. Officer Sullivan: Miss Velez…Miss Velez? Lindsey continues the same, but finally speaks in a low serene voice. Lindsey: Yes? Officer Sullivan: Can you please tell me what happened once more? Lindsey: Jason…he's dead. Officer Sullivan: I understand that, but how did he die? Lindsey: He was shot. I heard them, I heard the shots. Officer Sullivan: Do you know where the shots came from? Lindsey: I heard them. I should have saved him. I could have saved him. Now he's gone…Jason's dead. Officer Sullivan: So are you saying that you didn't kill him? Lindsey finally moves her head and looks at Officer Sullivan in an evil tone of eye. Velez Mansion (Santa's Bedroom) Santa is pacing back and forth in her bedroom. Santa: It must be done by now. Lindsey must have witnessed that boy's death by now. She's probably crying and mourning his tragic and surprising death. He's probably being taken to the morgue. Oh, I just hope she doesn't come home all teary eyed. Hopefully she'll be over it by tomorrow morning. Suddenly there's a knock at the door. She rushes over and opens it. It's Jose. He slowly walks into the room. He also looks like he's in a trance. Santa closes the door and stands behind him looking at him strangely. Santa: So, what happened, Jose? He doesn't respond. Santa: Jose! Tell me what happened! Is the boy dead? He turns to face Santa. He finally talks, also in a low and serene voice. Jose: Yes abuela…he's dead. Santa: Then why do you look so traumatized? Jose: Lindsey. She's… Santa: Oh, do you feel bad? She'll get over it and start to date a man of high class…a man that she should have been dating this whole time. Not the low class scumbag boy that she was dating. They wouldn't stop seeing each other as we ordered them to do so many times. This had to be done. Jose snaps out of his trance, but snaps at Santa. Jose: No! It didn't need to be done! If you wanted it to be done so badly…if you thought that it absolutely needed to be done then why couldn't you do it yourself? Witnessed it your self. If you would have seen how heartbroken Lindsey was you have died inside. Santa: Oh, just stop the drama Jose. It's not like you killed Lindsey's low-class lover your self! And how dare you speak to me that way! Jose: I've had enough of this! I'm sick of doing your dirty jobs! This is the last time I ever do anything like that for you again! Santa: Lower your voice before you wake up your mother. If she finds out what we did then she'll tell Lindsey and the police. Jose: You mean what you did. Santa: No Jose…I mean what we did. You were the one at the park…not me. Jose: I didn't want to do it! Santa: But you did! You and the man I hired killed him. Jose: I never pulled the trigger. It was all Andy…he's the one that literally killed him. You're the one that set it up. I just witnessed it. I'm in the clear. I don't have anything to worry about. Santa: What are you… Jose: Listen, I regret having to witness that and being part of it, but I don't have any choice but to tell Lindsey exactly what happened. Santa gasps and stares at Jose in shock. South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Dominique's Room) Kyle bursts into the room. He runs to Dominique's side, not even noticing David. Kyle: Dominique! Baby, I was so worried about you. What happened? Dominique: I'm fine, really, I just have a broken arm. Kyle: How did… He notices David. Kyle: David Velez? What are you doing here? Did you do this to my wife? I'll kill you! David looks scared and Dominique looks at Kyle, fearing that he is about to kill David. He struggles, but stands up, balancing himself on one leg, and begins to explain to Kyle. David: Listen Kyle, I can explain everything. There's no need to get into a rage. There's a perfectly good reason why I'm here with your wife. Kyle: I'm all ears. I can't wait to hear this. David: Okay, first of all, there's nothing that you should be mad about or get mad about, it was a simple coincidence. Kyle: Just get to the point! Why are you here with my wife? Dominique: Kyle, I can… Kyle: I want to hear this from the rich man. He knows that I don't very well like him and he better come up with a good reason why he's here. David: I'm not going to come up with a reason, I'm going to tell you the truth. Kyle folds his arms and looks David in the eyes and waits for his explanation. South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room) Brittany is sitting in the emergency room waiting for the doctor to let her know about Megan's condition. Dr. Shinto walks over to her. Dr. Shinto: Hello. Are you Brittany? Brittany: Yes, who are you? Dr. Shinto: I'm Dr. Shinto…I'm taking care of your friend, Megan Shirley. Brittany: Where's Dr. Blake? She's Megan's doctor. Dr. Shinto: She's not in tonight, so I'm taking her patients. Brittany: I see, well, how is Megan? Dr. Shinto: She's doing okay. This is a very odd situation that she's in, however. Brittany: Do you know what happened to her? Why she was so sick? Dr. Shinto: Was Megan consuming large amounts of alcohol? Brittany looks away from Dr. Shinto. ~Flashback~ Brittany, Megan, Ryan and Douglas are in the nightclub at the bar. Brittany: Come on, its time to go. Megan: What? Brittany: They are serving alcohol here! Megan: Really? Brittany: Oh my God. You guys are drunk! ~Flashback Ends~ Brittany looks back at Dr. Shinto. Dr. Shinto: Well, Brittany? Do you know if Megan was consuming alcohol? Brittany just looks at Dr. Shinto with a confused look on her face. Cup-A-Joe (Tables Section) Paul comes over to the table where Jodi and Anthony are seated. Paul: Hello Jodi. Jodi: Paul, how are you? Paul: I'm okay, I guess. A lot has happened between yesterday and today. I guess it's just starting to really get to me. Jodi: Anything I can help you with? Paul: No, I don't think so. I wouldn't want to intrude on your company. Jodi: Oh, my company. This is my oldest son, Anthony. Anthony stands up and Paul turns to him. They shake hands. As they are shaking hands, Anthony pulls Paul into him and gives him a hug. When Anthony lets go, Paul looks at him strangely and then at Jodi. Jodi shrugs. Paul looks back at Anthony. Paul: It's nice to meet you too, Anthony. Anthony: Ditto. Paul: You sure do show your affection. Anthony: Oh, I've just heard that you've been a really great friend to my mother when she needed one the most. Paul: Oh, well, I… Jodi: Don't start to be so modest Paul. You've always been a really good friend. Paul: Well thanks. So have you. Jodi: Will you join us? Paul: I wouldn't want to intrude. Besides, I have a few things to think about. Jodi Oh Paul, come on. Sit with us and tell us your problems and we'll help you solve them. It'll be like repaying you for all of the kind-hearted things you've done for me. Paul: You're sure I won't be intruding? Anthony: Positive, now sit. Paul: Okay, then. Jodi: So, what are the things that you need to think about? Paul: It's just my son. Things have changed between us and tonight I had to do the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life. Jodi: What did you do? Paul: I had to kick my son out of my house. Jodi: Why? Paul: He won't stop dating Lindsey Velez. I told him that he must stop and he said that he wouldn't so I told him to leave because I didn't want any part in it. I know that the Velez's are going to try and break them up and I don't want them to come after me too. Jodi: You're trying to break up him and his girlfriend? How could you do such a thing? Paul looks at Jodi very confused. Velez Mansion (Santa's Bedroom) Santa: You wouldn't dare tell Lindsey what really happened. Jose: Wouldn't I? Santa: You can't! Jose: Why not? Santa: Because, I forbid it. I won't let you tell her the truth. Don't you think she'll hate you just as much as she would hate me? Jose: No, because you're the one that set the whole thing up. Santa: But if she thought that you were the one that actually killed him… Jose: You seem to forget that I didn't kill him. Santa: Not according to me. If you tell Lindsey the whole truth, and she comes to me looking for answers then I'll have no choice but to tell her that you, her protective older brother, killed her beloved boyfriend. You'd be enemy number one on her list. Jose: What a family this is. Santa: Isn't it grand? Jose: I can't believe I'm actually part of it. Santa: Well, you are so get over it. Jose: Oh, I'm well over it. Haven't you noticed the ruthlessness that I've inherited from you? Santa: More then once. Jose: Then you should know better then anyone else, that I'm not afraid to show my evil side. Santa: You're getting a little too snippy for my liking. Jose: Well, your going to have to get over that, now aren't you? I'm going to bed now. Jose turns around and walks out of the room. Santa stands in the same place and stares off in shock by what has just happened. Santa: I can't believe he just spoke to me that way. Well, if he were in his right state of mind he wouldn't have said what he did. He's just angry and upset that he had to do what he did. He'll be over by tomorrow and everything will be going my way. River Ridge Park (Closed Concession Stand) Lindsey and Officer Sullivan are still standing beside the police car. Lindsey is looking at Officer Sullivan in both a surprised and evil tone of eye. Lindsey: You think I killed my boyfriend? Officer Sullivan: No that's not what I'm saying. It's just that we can't rule you out as a suspect. Lindsey: What? Are you kidding me? Why would I kill my boyfriend? I loved him. Officer Sullivan: Miss Velez, there's no need to get hyper. I'm just telling you… Lindsey: No! I didn't kill my boyfriend, damn it! Officer Sullivan: Okay…okay. Listen, why don't you just go home, get some rest, and tomorrow morning you can come down to the station and talk to me again. Lindsey: What'll happen to Jason? Officer Sullivan: He's being taken to the morgue. You'll be informed about him in a few days. Would you like a ride home? Lindsey: No, I'll be fine. Can I see Jason before I leave? Officer Sullivan: No, it'll be better if you don't. Lindsey: But…I just…I need to see him one last time. Officer Sullivan: Please, I really advise that you don't see him. He's not alive and it won't be the same. It'll just hurt you even more. Just go home remember the Jason you knew and loved. Lindsey: I guess you're right. Thank you Officer Sullivan. I'll see you tomorrow morning. Officer Sullivan: Okay then. You're sure you can get home all right? Lindsey: Yes. Thank you. Lindsey walks away from the scene of the crime. She opens her car door and looks back to see the flashing lights from the emergency vehicles. She starts to weep and gets into her car. She places her head on the steering wheel and cries hard as she mumbles Jason's name a few times. South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Emergency Room) Dr. Shinto continues to wait for Brittany's response. Dr. Shinto: Okay Brittany, I really need for you to tell me the truth right now. Was Megan drinking alcohol or not? You're starting to make me believe that she was because of your silence. If you're afraid to tell me, don't be. As long as you tell me the truth I'll be able to help you. Brittany: Okay…she was drinking, at least I think she was. Dr. Shinto: What do you mean, exactly? Brittany: You see, last night we were at a club. Actually I was there with my boyfriend and I didn't know that she was there. When I was ready to leave I found her at the bar. She was with my brother and they both seemed drunk. So, my boyfriend and I took the both of them to their homes. I never checked what they were drinking. Dr. Shinto: You said that you were at a club. If you guys were at a club then how did Megan and your brother get their hands on alcohol? Brittany looks away. ~Flashback~ Brittany and Douglas are standing at the head of a table where a few teens are seated. Brittany: Is that beer? Girl: What's it to ya? Brittany: Answer the question. Girl: Are you the police? Brittany grabs the cup and smells it. She puts it back down and turns to Douglas. Brittany: It is beer. They served beer to a sixteen-year-old! Can you believe this? ~Flashback Ends~ Brittany looks back at Dr. Shinto, once again afraid to answer her question. But then a nurse runs up to Dr. Shinto. Nurse: We need you immediately, Dr. Shinto. We have a major emergency. Dr. Shinto: I'm sorry Brittany. I have to go. I'll be back in a little while. Brittany nods and Dr. Shinto and the nurse run off. Brittany: What am I going to tell him? It's bad enough that I told him that Megan was drinking, but now I'll have to tell him that the club we were at was serving alcohol to minors and that is how she got a hold of it? Damn that nightclub! This wouldn't have happened if they wouldn't serve to minors. This is their entire fault. I should tell Dr. Shinto…then maybe he'll tell the police and they'll close it down. I won't be linked to it. Uh! I don't know what to do. I just want Megan to be all right. Brittany sighs and sits back down in a chair. Cup-A-Joe (Tables Section) Jodi: Answer me Paul. Why are you trying to break your son and his girlfriend apart? Paul: You don't understand the situation. Jodi: Are they in love? Paul: Yes, I believe they are, but that can't overcome what the Velez family can do in order to get them to stop seeing each other. Jodi: Then why didn't you let Jason and Lindsey, handle it? I'm sure they would have been able to, but you stepped in and tried to get them to break up as well. How could you do such a thing? I mean, you of all people. Paul: I know what you're talking about, and I don't think this is a good time to talk about it. Paul points towards Anthony with his eyes. Jodi is tempted to tell him to truth about everything and continue to argue with him about Jason and Lindsey. Jodi: Fine. Well… Suddenly the television gets loud and Mike is standing over by it. Mike: Look everybody! There's been another murder in Watersdale! Jodi, Anthony and Paul get up and go over to the television with everyone else. They watch the young female news reporter. Reporter: I'm here in River Ridge Park just a few blocks away from downtown Watersdale, where a second homicide in the past week, has taken place. Emergency vehicles where called to the scene of the crime by an elderly couple who were walking through the park and heard the gun shots. The victim, who is said to be a eighteen or nineteen year old male, was found, by police and paramedics, just outside this concession stand accompanied by his girlfriend, who claims she was meeting him here. No names are being released at this time, but detectives and crime scene investigators are looking to this tragic event. More to come tomorrow morning on the channel five morning news show, with Carl Christie and Anne Marie Donovan. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. The show that had been on returns to the air. Every remains standing around the television. Mike: I can't believe that there has been another murder. This is crazy. Nothing like this ever happens around here. I hope it's not someone that I know, that would be terrible. Paul: Do you know who was killed in the other murder? I never heard anything about that one. Mike: Yes, it was Roger Wilson I think. I was just relieved that it wasn't someone that I know. Paul: Really? Oh my God. I didn't even know. That's horrible. Who would do such a thing to him? He was a really nice man. Mike: Probably the same bastards that killed that boy tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a serial killer right here in Watersdale, because like I said, nothing like this ever happens, and for it to be two murders in a row is just crazy. I can't think of any other explanation, even though it does scare me. Jodi: Heaven forbid it! Don't say something like that. I'd be so worried if there really was a serial killer here. All of the patrons of Cup-A-Joe continue to stand in their spots, as still as still can be, but also looking at one another with worried looks. South Sea Watersdale Hospital (Dominique's Room) Kyle: I'm still waiting, and every minute that goes by makes me think that your brain is hard at work thinking about what lie your going to come up with to cover up why you're here. David: No, seriously, listen. I was at Cup-A-Joe reading a book and having a coffee. I saw Dominique walk in. I hadn't talked to her in while. Since my daughter's graduation, actually. So, anyway, I went over to her to say hi. We talked for a few seconds and then I went back to reading my book and drinking my coffee. When I left I saw that she was having troubles starting up her car so I offered to help her. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so we tried to call a tow truck, but the place was closed. I offered to take her home and she accepted. That's why we're here together. We were in the car accident together. Kyle: Is that, true Dominique. Dominique was looking at David in awe of his performance. "How easily he lies," she thought to herself. She heard Kyle and looked at him immediately. Dominique: Yes Kyle. It's true. Kyle: Well, I guess that's not that bad then. David: I told you. And I was here keeping her company, by the way. I have to get home, so I'm happy you're here. I can finally go home. Dominique, you take care, and hopefully next time we meet, we aren't put in such tragic conditions. I hope you get well soon. Dominique: Thank you. I hope that ankle of yours heals soon. David: Thank you. Goodbye Dominique…goodbye Kyle. Dominique: Goodbye. Kyle: Bye. David leaves the room. Kyle sits down, in the chair were David was. Kyle: I'm sorry. Dominique: It's okay. You had every right to be suspicious of us. I mean, it was such a strange situation to be in. I can understand why you would get so angered not knowing the whole story. Kyle: I know, but that is what I'm sorry about. Not allowing you and David to tell me the whole story from the start and jumping to conclusions. Dominique: It's okay, I told you. Let's just forget about it and focus on us. Kyle: I wish we could, but there's something you don't know. Dominique: What is it? Kyle: Yesterday Roger was killed. Dominique gasps and looks at Kyle in shock. "My secret is safe now…oh my God! This is wonderful!" She thinks to herself. Velez Mansion (Geovanna's Bedroom) Geovanna Jesus-Velez lays in her large queen size bed in her silky white nightgown. She is also covered by a white satin sheet, which matches the rest of her bed set. She doesn't look as though she is sleeping sound, however. She is tossing and turning. Suddenly she sits up straight. She is sweating and breathing heavily. She looks around her room in kind of a daze. She then sees something and focuses on it she is trying to see it so she squints. She can't tell what is it. Suddenly it becomes clear. It's a person…it's her mother. She gasps gets teary eyed. Geovanna: Mama…mama, is that you? Lydia: Si, Geovanna (Yes Geovanna.) It's me, your mama. Geovanna: But, you're dead. You've been dead for years. How is this possible? Lydia: I needed to speak with you. It's very important. I can't be here long though. Geovanna gets out of her bed and walks over to her mother. Geovanna: Can I hug you? Lydia: Yes, of course you can. Geovanna steps closer Lydia. She slowly puts her arms up and around her. They embrace. Geovanna begins to cry. Geovanna: Oh…oh my God. I can't believe this. It's so wonderful to hug you again. Lydia: It's wonderful to hold you again as well, Geovanna. However, I must tell you what I'm here for. Like I said, I don't have much time. Geovanna pulls away from her mother and looks at her confused. Geovanna: What is it? What do you need to speak with me about? Lydia: Santa. I know you've been after her for quiet sometime now. Geovanna: How did you know? Lydia: Just listen. You must not give up. You must get revenge on her for what she did to me. Geovanna: So, she did kill you? I've been right this whole time? Lydia: Yes. You've been right. Santa did kill me…she killed me with her bare hands. Geovanna: Oh my God! I knew it. Oh mama, I promise, she'll pay for what she did. I'm so determined to find those pearls that you said I could have one day. I know she has them. Lydia: Yes, she does. She has them and they are in this mansion. Geovanna: Where are they, exactly? Lydia: I'm not sure, but I know for a fact that she has my gorgeous pearls that are supposed to be around your neck. Geovanna: I know mama, and I'm going to find them and prove to everyone that she is a murderer. That she killed you. She'll finally pay, I promise you. Lydia: I have faith in your Geovanna. Geovanna: Thank you. And remember mama, I will get revenge on Santa Santiago-Velez, if it's the last thing I do. Lydia nods her head at her daughter's words. Velez Mansion (Lindsey's Bedroom) Lindsey walks into her dark bedroom and turns on a small light on her desk. It dimly lights the room. She picks up a picture frame with a picture of her and Jason. She begins to cry. Lindsey: Who did this to you Jason? Who killed you? I want to know…I want them to pay. I can't live without you. I can't. I love you so much. She holds the picture frame to her chest. She walks to the edge of her bed and sits down, as she continues to cry. Lindsey: My family will be happy that you're dead, because we can't be together now. But little do they know that they're going to loose me. I'm going to commit suicide. I have to be with you Jason. |
