Episode #2 - Jan. 19, 2001 ~Flashback~ We see Dominique holding a baby. A nurse comes up to her. Nurse: Mrs. Wilson, what did you and your husband decide for the baby's name?" Dominique: It's Matthew...Matthew Velez. Nurse: You mean Wilson dont you? Dominique: Yes...of course. I'm so sorry. His name is Matthew Wilson. ~Flashback Ends~ Wilson Home Dominique: Nobody can ever find out. Especially not Kyle. Dominique doesnt realize it but Roger Wilson, Kyles irresponsible brother who lives with them, walks into the kitchen and hears Dominique. Roger: What are you talking about Dominique? What cant nobody ever find out? Dominique gasps. She turns around and faces Roger. Dominique: Roger. I didn't hear you come in. I didnt know you were still home. Roger: Obviously. What were you talking about Dominique? What are you hiding? I want to know. Dominique looks scared and stares at Roger. Velez Mansion Miranda Perez, a maid, walks into the living room at the Velez Mansion where Geovanna is waiting for her. Miranda: You wanted to see me Seņora Velez? Geovanna: Yes. I need your help. Miranda: My help? Geovanna: Yes you're help. Do you see anyone else in this room? Miranda: Well, what do you need my help for? Geovanna: In due time Miranda. In due time. How long have you been working in this mansion? Miranda: Let's see. You were already married to Seņor Velez and both Jose and Lindsey were born, so...ten years. I've been working here for ten years. Geovanna: Yes...thats right, ten years. That is quite a long time to be working here, dont you think? Miranda: Yes...but I wouldnt give up my job for the world. I like working here. You're not going to fire me are you? What did I do? Geovanna: Oh, calm down Miranda. I'm not going to fire you. You havent done anything wrong. Miranda: Then whats this about Seņora Geovanna? Geovanna: As I said, I need youre help. You've worked here for ten years, and I'm sure that you've heard and seen a lot of things. Miranda: Well yes, but I'm sworn to secrecy on everything that I see or hear. There's no need to worry. Geovanna: Why would I worry? Miranda: For whatever reason, I dont know. I'm just telling you that if I ever hear or see anything you say or do I'm sworn to secrecy. Nobody would ever find out from me. Geovanna: Oh, I'm not worried about something like that, so, you swear yourself to secrecy on anything that you see or hear in this mansion? Miranda: That's right. I even try to forget it because it really isn't any of my business in the first place. Geovanna: Well...I'm going to ask you to break your rule. I need to know anything and everything that you can tell me about Santa. Miranda looks at Geovanna; shocked and confused. Park street Lindsey stands up from sitting on the bench and starts to walk towards Cup-A-Joe to get away from Jose and catch up with Jason. Jose: Wait a minute. I know whats going on. Lindsey turns around and faces Jose with a worried look on her face. Lindsey: You do? Jose: Yes. I know exactly whats going on. You dont want to hang out with your big brother. You're too cool for that. Right? Lindsey: Oh, that, right. Jose: What?! Lindsey: No, that's not what I meant. You just seemed so serious that I thought you were going to say something else. Jose: No. I was just kidding with you. You looked scared though. It's all right if you dont want to hang around with me. Lindsey: You know that I love to hang out with you. Jose: Okay then. Lets go to Cup-A-Joe and have a coffee. My treat. Lindsey thinks to herself in her head. ~Jason went into Cup-A-Joe. Hell be so mad if I go in there with my brother. Ill feel terrible.~ Jose: So what do you say Lin? Lindsey: well...um...okay. Lindsey smiles weakly and her and Jose begin to walk towards Cup-A-Joe. Hudson High The halls in Hudson High are empty. A bell rings and the halls are filled almost instantly. We see Ellen walk out of a classroom. She turns and bumps into Vanessa. Both her books and Vanessas books fall to the floor. Ellen: Watch were youre going brat! Vanessa: Don't talk to me like that! I'm not your sister. Ellen: I dont care who you are. Get out of my way. Ellen and Vanessa get all of their books together and stand up from squatting down. Vanessa: Do you realize how nasty you are? Such a bitch. Ellen gets mad after she hears this and slaps Vanessa. Vanessa holds her cheek and looks furious at Ellen. Cup-A-Joe Mariah looks at Richard waiting for an answer. Mariah: So? Can she come along? Richard: Mariah, she always tags along. Were never alone because of her. Mariah: But I feel sorry for her. Please, just this one more time? Richard: You always say that and then there's always a next time. Mariah: It's not like we do much but come here and go to Lakeview Plaza when were together. Richard: If we were ever alone then we could do more, a lot more. Mariah: I'm sorry. I dont want her to come with us anymore either, but just one more time. I swear, this will be the last time, I promise. Please? Richard: Fine, whatever. Im serious though...this is the last time. Mariah: Okay, fine, okay. Thank you so much. Mariah kisses Richard. Mariah: I'll be right back. Mariah runs up to Maria who is standing behind the counter. Mariah: Maria, how would you like to go to Lakeview Plaza with Richard and me? Maria: Sure, I'd love it. Thanks, but I thought that Richard wanted to be alone with you? Mariah: Well, I asked him if you can come with us and he said yes. So just dont question it and come. Maria: You guys don't want me to come. I can tell. You're only inviting me because of what I said. I'm not going to go with you. I'm finished imposing on you and your love life with Richard. Mariah looks at Maria in disappointment as Maria walks away. Wilson Home Dominique stares at Roger with a worried look on her face. Roger waits for an answer. Dominique: I'm not hiding anything. What gives you that idea? Roger: Give me a break Dominique. I heard what you said. Dominique: What did I say. Roger: You said Nobody can find out. Especially not Kyle. So my question is what don't you want Kyle to find out about. Dominique: I dont know. I forgot. I have to get to work. I have a class to teach at ten. I can't be late...excuse me. Dominique begins to leave the room but Roger grabs her arm and turns her around. Dominique: Get you hand off of me. You have no right to grab me like that. What's your problem? Roger: I want to know if youre hiding something from my brother. If you are he has a right to know about it. Dominique: For the last time, I dont know what you're talking about. Roger: Don't play stupid with me Dominique. Tell me what you're hiding. Dominique: I don't know what youre talking about Roger. Roger: Fine. But know this, I'll find out exactly what you're hiding, don't you worry, and when I do you'll be so sorry. Dominique looks worried and Roger glares back at her. Cup-A-Joe Lindsey and Jose walk into Cup-A-Joe. They sit at the counter. Lindsey sees Jason at the other side of the coffeehouse looking at some CDs. Jose calls Maria over to him and Lindsey. Maria: Hello. What can I get for you? Jose: Good morning. I think I'm just gonna have a black coffee. Maria: Okay. Is that all? Jose: What do you want Lindsey? Lindsey is staring at Jason and doesnt hear Jose. Jose: Lindsey. Lindsey? Jose shakes Lindsey and calls her name again. Lindsey: What? Jose: Whats wrong with you? What you looking at? Lindsey: Nothing. I thought I saw someone I knew. Jose: Okay, well what do you want? Lindsey: Um, what? Jose: What do you want to order? Lindsey: Oh, I guess I'll have the same as you. Maria: So, two black coffees. For here or to go? Jose: Wait a minute. Lindsey you dont like black coffee. Lindsey: I know that. Jose: Then why did you order it? Lindsey: You know what, I dont want anything. Thanks. Maria: Okay. Is she all right? Jose: I think so. Maria: Okay then. So, one black coffee, for here or to go? Jose: Here. Maria: I'll be right back. Jose: Lindsey, why are you looking at Jason Forbes like that? That gets Lindseys attention and she stares at Jose with wide eyes. Hudson High Vanessa takes her hand off her face and tries to slap Ellen back but she grabs her arm. Ellen: Dont you dare. Vanessa: You had no right to slap me. Ellen: You had no right to call me a bitch. Vanessa: I only speak the truth Ellen. Ellen raises her hand to slap Vanessa again, but Amy is behind her and grabs her arm and turns her around. Amy: What do you think you're doing? Ellen stares at Amy. Amy waits for an answer. Velez Mansion Back at the Velez Mansion Miranda and Geovanna are still in the living room. Miranda is shocked by what Geovanna just said. Miranda: I cant do that Seņora Geovanna. I have to honor my word. Geovanna: Miranda, you dont understand. I have to do this. I have to find things out about her. She can destroy me if I dont find the information that Im looking for, and if she finds it first then I'll really be ruined. Please. I'm begging you. Tell me whatever you know. Bianca Miles, another maid in the Velez Mansion walks into the living room. She doesnt hear anything that they were saying. Bianca: Excuse me Seņora Geovanna. Miranda, we need you in the kitchen. Miranda: Okay. I'm right behind you. Miranda turns and walks in the direction of Bianca. Geovanna: No. You come back here Miranda. She obeys and turns back around and stands next to Geovanna. Geovanna: I need Miranda right now Bianca. I'll send her to the kitchen when Im finished with her. Bianca: But Seņora Geovanna, Marjorie said she needs Miranda right now. Geovanna: Did you or did you not hear what I just said? Tell Marjorie that she can manage until I'm ready to send Miranda back to the kitchen and she won't be there a second before. Besides Marjorie is just the cook here. I'm Mrs. David Velez, I make the rules around here. If the cooks and maids were ment to make decisions here then it would have been in the job description. Tell Marjorie if she has a problem with this, or me, she can come and speak to me about it. Bianca: Yes Seņora. Excuse me. Bianca leaves the living room. Geovanna: Now, are you going to tell me everything you know about Santa? Geovanna stares at Miranda, who looks terrified. C.V. Water Factory Santa is sitting behind a desk in an office. The nameplate on the front of the desk reads Juan C. Velez. Santa is holding a picture of her late husband, Juan. Santa: My dear Juan. Why did you have to die the way you did? Why did you leave me? If you only knew the way I'm suffering now. I have to keep up with everything. I have to keep the family in line. I have to deal with Geovanna. I know she had something to do with your death, I just know it. I know you told me not to cry for you or our wonderful son Carlos, but I'm so worried that I'll find out something that will shock me. If I ever find out that Geovanna Jesus had something to do with your death or Carlos death...she will pay. Santa holds the picture against her heart and begins to cry harder. Wilson Home Dominique and Roger glare at eachother. Dominique: How dare you threaten me. You're living in my house and living off of my family and me. Roger: I'm not threatening you Dominique. I'm making you a promise. Dominique gives Roger a dirty look and turns and walks out of the house. She heads for Hudson High, were she is a teacher. Roger: I'll find out what youre hiding, if it's the last thing I do. Cup-A-Joe Lindsey stares at Jose in shock. She finally answers him. Lindsey: Looking at Jason Forbes like what? Jose: I dont know, but you shouldnt even make eye contact with him. I mean youre a Velez and he works in our factory, with his father. How low can you get? Lindsey: Why do you have to talk about people like that? Jose: Has grandmother taught you nothing? We're people. As much as we hate to admit it, the Blakes are people. Over there, Mariah Cortez and Richard Lee, they are people, but Jason and Paul Forbes and everyone on their side of the tracks might as well not be considered people. Lindsey: That's so arrogant though. Just because they don't come from a rich family? Jose: Whats gotten into you? Why are you sticking up for his kind? Lindsey: Because I...I'm not. Jose: Good, because you werent brought up that way. Lindsey: I'll be right back. Lindsey stands up and walks towards the restrooms. As she walks past Jason she motions him to follow her. They stand outside the restrooms. Jason: Whats going on? Lindsey: We got into an argument about you and father. He caught me looking at you and he starting talking about you. I was defending you, but I didn't want it to be too noticable, so I stopped. Jason: Why dont you just tell him about us? You said he'll accept us once he knows. Lindsey: Not yet...if I do now then I'll be starting World War III. Jason: You said that you would tell them though. Lindsey: I know but when the time is right. When I know that they'll accept you. Jason: I dont think we can ever reach that point Lindsey. I cant risk my life or my fathers life. I don't think we can have anymore of a relationship. Lindsey looks at Jason in shock. Hudson High Ellen pulls her arm out of Amys hand. Ellen: Get off of me. Amy: Were you about to hit Vanessa? Vanessa: Yes, again! Amy: Whats wrong with you Ellen? Ellen: Stay out of my business. Amy: Ellen, I think you have a serious problem. Ellen: I do. It's you. Ellen and Amy begin to yell at each other. Amy: What do you think my problem is? Vanessa: Just calm down guys. Ellen: Shut up Vanessa. This is between me and my sister. Vanessa: Youre both going to wind up saying something that youre going to regret. Ellen: I couldnt care less. Amy: Ditto. Ellen: This little brat isn't my sister. I hate her. Ellen and Amy start to argue again and yell louder. They even begin to shove eachother. The school principle comes running down the hall after watching what has just happened. Miss Myers: Whats going on here? Ellen: Nothing Miss Myers. Miss Myers: That's not what I saw. Amy: I caught Ellen trying to slap Vanessa. Miss Myers: I caught you and Ellen arguing an shoving on eachother, and now you're both to report to my office immediately. Understand? Amy: Yes. Ellen: Yes. Miss Myers: Vanessa, you're to report to your next class. If I need you for anything I'll be sure to call you down. Vanessa: Yes Miss Myers. Ellen and Amy walk down the hall and sit outside the principles office. Vanessa heads to her next class. Dominique walks into the school and walks by Ellen and Amy so fast that she doesnt even notice them. When she walks by a second time she does notice them. She looks at them in shock and disbelief. Dominique: I dont believe what I'm seeing. You two are in trouble again? What was it this time? You know what? I dont even want to know. Stay here. I'll talk with Miss Myers and I'll handle calling your mother. I know she wont be happy with this, but I dont have any other choice. I have a class this period, so you'll have to stay here and wait. I'll be back right after third period. Dominique walks away. Ellen: This is all your fault. Amy: Dont start with me Ellen. Velez Mansion At the Velez Mansion Geovanna continues to beg Miranda to tell her everything that she knows. Miranda: All right Seņora Geovanna, I'll tell you what I know. Come with me. Miranda leads Geovanna to another room in the mansion. Miranda: Anything you want to know is in this room. Everything that has ever happened within this family is hidden in here. Geovanna: Are you serious? Miranda: Yes. I over heard Seņora Velez talking about all the secrets that are held within these walls. I even walked in on her looking at some personal papers. Geovanna: Did she see you? Miranda: No. I wouldnt be working here anymore if she had. She walks over to the bookcase and pulls out a book. Not knowing that her hand passed through a red laser beaming by. Miranda: Most of what to know, if not all, would probably be in this safe. Geovanna looks at the book safe that Miranda is holding and can only smile. C.V. Water Factory Santa continues to sit at the desk at the factory. There are a few beeps. Santa looks worried. She opens a drawer with a bunch of small red lights. One is blinking rapidly. Santa looks even more terrified. Santa: Someones in the library. They'll find me out. She gets up and grabs her coat and runs out of the office.
