The Lives we Live: Episode 14

Wilson Home
Roger walks into the spare room where Kyle is still playing around with the Wilson family web page. He sits in the chair next to him.

Kyle: "Roger, are you keeping something from me?"
Roger: "What?'
Kyle: "Are you keeping something from me? Is there a secret that you're hiding?"
Roger: "Um…me…a secret? No."
Kyle: "So you and Dominique aren't hiding anything from me?"
Roger: "Me and Dominique. No."
Kyle: "Don't lie to me Roger! I know that you and Dominique are hiding something from me."

Roger is nervous and Kyle waits for Roger to say something.

Kyle: "Isn't that right, Roger? Isn't it? You and Dominique are trying to keep me from finding something out? You have a secret and Dominique has a secret."
Roger: "You heard."
Kyle: "Yes, and that isn't all I know. I'm very disappointed in you Roger. I thought you were finished with all of that. I'm even more upset with Dominique, her of all people…I just can't believe it."
Roger: "Listen Kyle…"
Kyle: "No."
Roger: "Would you just give me a chance to explain…please. You'll understand why I did it…and I'm surprised you're so shocked that Dominique kept her secret. I know you wouldn't have done the same, but it's Dominique that we're talking about and it's totally different for her."
Kyle: "Well, are you going to tell me the secret?"
Roger: "What? You don't know…it sounded like you did."
Kyle: "No…Matt came and told me…"
Roger: "That he heard Dominique and I talking about a secret."
Kyle: "Yeah. I'm just upset that I wasn't told this secret, by you or Dominique."
Roger: "Well, she wanted to tell you."
Kyle: "You can tell me…don't worry. Besides, I'm very curious as to what it is."
Roger: "Um…well…you see…uh…"

Roger continues to stutter as he tries to think of something. Kyle waits patiently, but looks at Roger weird, as he stutters.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital
Richard catches up to Mariah who collapses down into a chair, sobbing. Richard sits in a chair next to her and puts his arm around her.

Mariah: "Get away from me."
Richard: "Mariah, listen…"
Mariah: "I said, get away from me. Take your arm off of me."

Richard removes his arm but remains seated next to her.

Richard: "I'm really sorry that you…"
Mariah: "So and I."
Richard: "I can explain, though. Can you look at me, please?"
Mariah: "No. I don't ever want to see your face again."
Richard: "You don't mean that."
Mariah: "Oh yes I do. I never want to look at you again. I don't want anything to do with you."
Richard: "If you would just let me explain."
Mariah: "Too bad, I don't want to hear it."
Richard: "Katie is the one you should be mad at, Mariah. She's the one that pushed her self on me. I didn't want anything to do with her in that way."

Mariah finally looks at Richard.

Mariah: "And that's supposed to make everything better?"
Richard: "I would hope so."
Mariah: "It doesn't. You told me that you and Katie were just friends."
Richard: "We are, that's all we ever have been."

Mariah slaps Richard.

Richard: "What the hell was that for?"
Mariah: "That was for lying to me again."
Richard: "What are you talking about?"
Mariah: "You told me that you and Katie were only friends…that's not true. She was your fiancée…the love of your life…for two years. It's bad enough that you didn't tell me about her when we first started dating, and it's even worse that you didn't run this by me when she came to town. I had to hear about it from my sister, and then worst of all, I catch you and her practically making love in your office. How can you expect me to forgive you? You're a lying bastard and I don't want anything to do with you. Our relationship is over."

Mariah gets up and walks away from Richard. He sits there in shock.

Velez Mansion
Geovanna finishes taking all of the clothes out of the drawers of the dresser. Miranda folds them neatly as the throws Geovanna throws each article behind her self.

Geovanna: "Damn it. Where the hell could that key be? It's no where to be found. I looked through the entire vanity, all of the boxes up in the closet, under the mattress, and now the dresser. It's nowhere. Miranda, are you sure that you checked through the nightstands and in the bathroom, and everywhere else?"
Miranda: "I'm positive señora. I didn't find the key anywhere."
Geovanna: "Where else can it be Miranda? Where?"
Miranda: "I don't know. It could be in the library…but it could also be at the offices."
Geovanna: "Do you think that she would keep it all the way at the offices?"
Miranda: "If she has something threatening to hide then she would do whatever it takes to hide the key as far away as possible, but also so that she would be able to get it whenever it would be needed."
Geovanna: "That's a good point. I just know my mother's pearls are in here. If I could just find that key to open this damned thing, I'd be able to prove that she helped in my mothers murder."
Miranda: "Señora Geovanna, you still haven't told me the story about your mother and Santa and those pearls that you continue to talk of."
Geovanna: "Okay. We'll put this room back together and while we're doing that, I'll tell you the story."
Miranda: "Okay."

Miranda begins putting the clothes back into the appropriate drawers. Geovanna goes to the bed and begins to make it neatly.

Geovanna: "My mother told me the entire story just before the murder. I guess Santa and my mother, Lydia; that was her name, were very good friends all throughout school. They always did everything together. When they were in college they got to know Juan Velez. Every woman wanted him…he was handsome, rich, a perfect gentleman, everything that a woman could want a man to be. There was going to be a huge party and he invited Santa. They hit it off and started to date. My mother was a little jealous, because you see, she was in love with Juan, but she wasn't in love with his good looks or his money, like Santa and every other woman was. She wanted him for his charm and personality. Santa knew this, but she still betrayed her best friend and dated Juan anyway."
Miranda: "How terrible of her to do such a thing. What happened next?"

Geovanna sits down on the bed across from the chair that Miranda is sitting in and sighs. Miranda waits for Geovanna to continue with the story.

Velez Mansion
David is sitting in a chair on the patio reading the newspaper. Jose and Lindsey walk out onto the patio arguing.

David: "What are the two of you yelling about now?"
Lindsey: "Jose thinks he's the boss of me."
Jose: "I do not. I'm only protecting you. Papa, she was with Jason Forbes again."
David: "I thought we told you to stay away from him Lindsey?"
Lindsey: "You did."
David: "Well, why didn't you listen? Why didn't you do as we said?"
Lindsey: "Because I should be able to run my own life and decide who I want to date. My family shouldn't have any say in the matter."
David: "Well, you know Lindsey, we do, so get used to it. I'm sick of you trying to be the rebel…you're wasting your time. Listen to abuela and me and you'll be just fine. We wouldn't have this problem if you would just stay away from Jason."
Lindsey: "I will not stay away from him. I've already told you that I love him and he loves me."
David: "You're being fooled and that's all there is too it. He must really think he's lucky. He's scoring points with the princess of the Velez family and that means that he's a shoe in for the money."
Lindsey: "Papa, he's not like that."
David: "Why else would a lower class boy be interested in you?"
Lindsey: "Why is it so hard for you to believe? Doesn't the love that you and mama share mean anything to you?"
David: "Of course it does. It means the world to me. That has nothing to do with this. You're mother and I both came from a wealthy family."
Lindsey: "I don't care about classes. All I care about it love. I know that Jason loves me for me, not for the Velez money. Wouldn't you love mama just the same if she were lower class?"
David: "It's different Lindsey."
Lindsey: "Explain to me how it's different. When you love someone, and you know that person loves you back, you can feel it through your entire body. You know when it's real, despite classes."
David: "This is not what this is about. Don't try to make me feel bad for you. You are to stop seeing Jason, immediately. Do you understand?"
Lindsey: "No, and I don't think that I will ever understand."

Lindsey begins to cry and runs from the patio. Jose sits down at the table with David.

Jose: "What now, papa?"
David: "Continue to make sure that she stays away from him. Let abuela or I know if you catch them again. This has to be stopped."

Jose gets up and leaves. David continues to read the newspaper.

River Ridge Park
Dominique walks through the park thinking about what is happening. She sits down at a bench. She whispers to herself.

Dominique: "This is crazy. What am I going to do? Roger promised not to tell Kyle, but I'm not sure how true his word is. I know, maybe I should call David. I can tell him about what has happened. He should know that Roger knows about Matt. It can destroy him as much as it can destroy me. I need to call him now."

Dominique takes out her cell phone and begins to dial a number.

Wilson Home
Kyle listens to Roger as he stutters and says rubbish.

Kyle: "Come on Roger…what's wrong? Just tell me. I'm sure it can't be anything bad."
Roger: "I'm just not sure if Dominique wanted to tell you about this."
Kyle: "Don't worry. She won't mind."
Roger: "Well…we didn't want to tell Matt about it because I guess Dominique…um…wants to…uh…she wants to buy a dog for Matt."
Kyle: "A dog? Why would she want to do that? She knows that I hate dogs."
Roger: "That's probably why she didn't want to tell you about it. Maybe she was hoping that you wouldn't mind if she just went out and bought one."
Kyle: "When is she planning on getting this dog?"
Roger: "Oh…uh…I think she's going to hold off for a little bit."
Kyle: "Good. I'll have to talk to her about this, but I'm going to go and talk to Matt about this. Would you keep working on the web site? I want to get this done today. Today the only day for a while that I'll be able to work on it."
Roger: "Sure…I'll gladly work on it."

Kyle leaves the room and Roger sits in front of the computer.

Roger: "What can I put on this site…news? Yeah…that's a good idea. I'll make a news page."

He goes to work typing on the computer and clicking around on the screen.

Roger: "Oh…well, what's going on with this family…anything with the kids? Oh yeah, Matt is going to be in a school play, I think. I'll put that on here."

Roger continues typing and working on the web page.

Roger: "What's this? Headline news. What can I put there? Those are pretty big letters. I don't think there's anything that im…oh my God. This is perfect…it's perfect. Oh yes…this is going to be the best ever."

Roger clicks and types and clicks some more. He smiles sinisterly as he continues working on the page.

Velez Mansion
David sits on the patio. Now writing a letter, for the company. The telephone rings, but he ignores it and soon it stops ringing. Bianca then comes walking out onto the patio holding a cordless telephone.

Bianca: "Señor Velez, someone is on the telephone for you. She says her name is Dominique or something like that."
David: "I'll take it…this must be important. Thank you Bianca."

David takes the phone and puts it to his ear. He waits for Bianca to leave. She does.

David: "Dominique? What is it?"
Dominique: "David, it's terrible. Someone knows. Someone knows about Matt."
David: "Who?"
Dominique: "My brother-in-law, Roger."
David: "How much does he know?"
Dominique: "I'm really not sure. I know he knows that Matt is not Kyle's son, though."
David: "You don't know if he knows who his real father is?"
Dominique: "No, I don't. He has threatened to reveal this to Kyle several times, but I've been able to stop him. I have something on him and he doesn't want Kyle to know about it so…"
David: "Wait."
Dominique: "What is it?"
David: "Someone's coming. I have to let you go. Meet me in front of Cup-A-Joe tomorrow night at eight, okay?"
Dominique: "Sure…bye."

David hangs up the telephone and Santa walks onto the patio, followed by Jose.

Santa: "David, Jose has informed me of what has happened."
David: "What do we plan to do? Should we just keep telling Jason to stay away from Lindsey?"
Jose: "I think that would be the best thing."
Santa: "No, we have to go to the next level."
Jose: "What's that?"
Santa: "Don't only warn Jason, but also warn his father. If Paul gets pressured, then he might tell Jason to stop seeing Lindsey. But, when you talk to them, don't only warn them. Threaten them too. Tell them that we'll fire them from working in the factory, or something. I'm sure you'll think of something."
Jose: "What if none of this works?"
David: "There are more drastic measures that we can take, Jose, but for now, listen to what abuela says."
Jose: "Okay. Should I continue to take Lindsey away from Jason if I catch them together?"
David: "No."
Santa: "What? Yes, you keep doing that Jose."
David: "No, don't."
Santa: "Why not?"
David: "Because, if he continues to do that it'll just get old and it'll be harder to break them up. If you catch them together again, then just tell abuela or I. We'll then tell you what to do next."
Jose: "Okay. I've got it. I know what to do."

Jose gets up and leaves the patio.

Velez Mansion
Geovanna continues with the story. Miranda sits and listens intently.

Geovanna: "My mother was hurt so badly. She said she felt like her heart had broken into a million pieces. Anyway, a few years later my mother's father wanted her to be married, so he introduced her to Rafael Jesus. A couple years later, after Santa and Juan were married and my mother and father were married, they all met again at a party. Juan went up to my mother and told her that he should have married her, instead of Santa, and gave her a pearl necklace. My mother always wore it. Since her and my father never had any type of loving relationship he never asked her about it. The day she was murdered the pearls weren't on her neck. I was supposed to inherit those pearls."
Miranda: "Santa knew about them? How?"
Geovanna: "Not at first, but a couple months later she found out about them somehow. She vowed to get them from my mother and to have them for herself. She convinced herself that they were supposed to be for her and that my mother forced Juan to give them to her. She was so delusional it wasn't even funny. Anyway, I know she killed my mother only to get those pearls. I know she's hiding them somewhere."
Miranda: "You think she killed your mother because she thought the pearls were rightfully hers?"
Geovanna: "Exactly. They weren't though. Juan stopped loving Santa after a while, but she never wanted to face that. She did everything that she knew how to keep Juan and her together until the day he died. She thinks he was murdered though. Like I said, she's so delusional. Anyway, we still need to find that damn key."

Suddenly Bianca walks into the room.

Bianca: "What are the two of you doing in here?"
Geovanna: "Is it any of your concern?"
Bianca: "No, but since señora Velez is on her way up here then I'd advise you to be gone.

Miranda and Geovanna look at each other with worried expressions.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital
Richard catches up with Mariah and stops her.

Richard: "Where are you going?"
Mariah: "I'm leaving. I'm going home. Remember…I don't want anything to do with you? I just broke up with you."
Richard: "No, I'm not going to let this happen. I love you too much."
Mariah: "Obviously not enough to keep your hands off of Katie."
Richard: "That was her…how many times do I have to tell you? I didn't want to become sexually or romantically involved with her. She pushed herself on me. Listen, when we went into my office, she immediately closed the door and all of the blinds. When she told me what her intentions were, I started opening the blinds. I just didn't get a chance to open the door. I told her that she should go and start looking for an apartment. She was going to leave, but then she grabbed me and started kissing me. That's when you walked in."
Mariah: "That might be true, but you know what? It didn't look like you were pushing away from her."
Richard: "I was, and I just wish you didn't have to see that…I wish it wouldn't have happened at all."
Mariah: "Do you expect me to be okay with her still living with you?"
Richard: "I hope so, because she has nowhere else to go and I promise that I won't let anything like what happened this morning or just now ever happen again."
Mariah: "What happened this morning?"

Richard looks away from Mariah.

~Flashback~

We see Richard's bedroom. There are clothes all over the floor and hanging on the side of the bed. Under the blankets Richard lays on top of Katie. They are kissing and making love.

~Flashback Ends~

Richard looks back at Mariah.

Richard: "You know, when you saw me and her hugging, but that harmless, right?"
Mariah: "Yeah. So you swear that nothing is going to happen between the two of you again?"
Richard: "Cross my heart, hope to die."
Mariah: "Well, now that that's settled. I need to have a little talk with Katie."
Richard: "Wait. What are you going to do?"
Mariah: "I'm only going to talk with her."
Richard: "Wait. Are we still dating?"
Mariah: "Yes. But, I have to go and talk to Katie."

Mariah turns and starts to walk down the hall. Richard follows promptly.

Velez Mansion
Santa and David have just finished talking.

David: "Okay, but that escalates rather quickly. Are you sure that's how you want to do it?"
Santa: "I'm positive. Each step will just be another warning and if the warning signs are ignored then we go for it."
David: "Who would we get though?"
Santa: "Don't you worry about, hijo (son). We won't need to worry about that right now. I have to go and change. I have a meeting to be at. I might not even go. It's not like it's really important. I'll see you later."

Santa leaves the patio. David gathers all of his papers and stands up.

David: "So many problems. There're all happening at once. This is crazy. I haven't spoken to or seen Dominique in so long. This is going to be so weird."

David then walks off of the patio and heads into the mansion.

Wilson Home
Roger stares at the computer screen in awe at what he has just typed.

Roger: "This is so perfect. Tomorrow, Kyle will come to work on the site and he'll see this in the news section. I wish I could see his face, but I'll have to be gone by then. I'm such a genius. There is no way this plan can fail. Dominique will be hurt, I'll be gone, far away from Kyle and Donny. Oh boy, wait until Kyle gets a load of this."

Roger laughs and looks at the screen that reads, in large bold letters: "WILSON SON, NOT ACTUALLY A WILSON: Dominique Wilson's secret that will destroy this family."

Roger: "Now, all I have to do it his the save button and it'll be there for when Kyle comes to edit it."

Roger hits the "enter" button the keyboard. The computer begins to save the page, and soon says that it is done saving. Roger then turns the computer off and leaves the room.

South Sea Watersdale Hospital
Katie is now sitting in a chair in Richard's office. Jodi finally walks in and she sits in Richard's chair behind his desk.

Jodi: "Katie, is it?"
Katie: "Yes."
Jodi: "So, how did you get this job? Why here, of all places?"
Katie: "I had heard about this town and I had always wanted to live in a small, cozy town, so I applied for the job here and they gave it to me. You can imagine how surprised I was when I found out that Richard was a doctor here and that I'd be working with him."
Jodi: "Let's not pussyfoot around anymore, Katie. I know about your past with Richard and I know that you came here for him. Incase he hasn't told you already, which I'm sure he has, he and Mariah are in love, they have a deep love for each other and nobody is going to let you ruin that. What you had with Richard all those years ago is over and you need to let it go. People might start think that you're a little obsessive."

Just then Mariah and Richard walk in. Katie quickly stands up. Mariah walks straight up to her and stands about an inch in front of her.

Mariah: "Listen to me, you little whore. You're in for a tough fight, if you think that you're going to take my man away from me. I don't know who you think you are coming in here like the Queen of Sheba. Trying to temp my boyfriend into sleeping with you, or whatever your messed up mind wants him to do. Just know that I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere, so watch yourself."

Katie stares right back at Mariah with a surprised, yet strong expression. Mariah then turns around and leaves the office.

Katie: "Well, that was rude."
Jodi: "No Katie, I'll tell you what's rude. You coming to town trying to get Richard back into your life is rude. Finding out that he has a girlfriend and is in love with her, and still trying to get him back is rude. Pushing your self on him, trying to temp him away from his girlfriend is rude. So all in all, you're the rude and guilty one in all of this. Don't expect any sympathy from anyone just because Mariah told you the truth."
Katie: "Uh…I don't have to take this from you people. I'll see you at your apartment later, Richard."

Katie leaves the office. Richard sits down with Jodi.

Richard: "I have a feeling that this is going to be a long ride."

Richard puts his head on his desk and sighs. Jodi pats his back.

Velez Mansion
Lindsey picks up the telephone and dials Jason's phone number. He picks up.

Lindsey: "Hi."
Jason: "Hey baby. What's going on?"
Lindsey: "They're still forbidding me to see you. This is crazy. I told them that they can't do this, I have rights. It's not like I'm a little girl."
Jason: "Your family is messed up. We knew that they wouldn't accept our relationship."
Lindsey: "I know, but you know what? I don't care what they say. I'm still going to be with you. That's what I wanted to let you know, because I didn't know if you were confused about what happened at the park earlier."
Jason: "I got your message. I know that it was act to fool Jose."
Lindsey: "I wonder if Jose told my father and grandmother about the fight you and him had."
Jason: "I don't care if he does. I'll fight him again if I have too."
Lindsey: "I don't want you to get hurt."
Jason: "Your brother can't hurt me."
Lindsey: "That's not what I mean. What if my family gets fed up with us not heeding their warnings and they do something to you? I wouldn't be able to live without you."
Jason: "What could they do? They wouldn't murder me."
Lindsey: "They could send me away, or keep me locked up in this house."
Jason: "No they can't. Like you said before, you're not a little girl. You can do whatever you want."
Lindsey: "You know it isn't that easy."
Jason: "I know, but we'll pull through this. You now that we can pull through anything."
Lindsey: "I love you with all my heart and soul, Jason."
Jason: "I love you too."

Lindsey and Jason continue talking.

Velez Mansion
Bianca stands at the doorway and Geovanna and Miranda stay sitting in the room.

Bianca: "Señora Geovanna, Miranda, the two of you better get out of here. Señora Velez doesn't like people in her room. Come on. She's on her way up here."
Miranda: "She's right señora. We better go."

Miranda and Geovanna stand up and walk out into the hallway. Miranda closes the door and locks it. Geovanna hides the 'book safe' from Bianca and when she isn't looking she puts it down the back of her pants and covers the part that is showing with her shirt. She does it just in time, because Santa appears.

Santa: "What's going on here?"
Geovanna: "I was just speaking with Miranda and Bianca. Do you have a problem with that?"
Santa: "No. I do have a problem with you standing in front of my bedroom door."

Geovanna moves and Santa unlocks it and goes inside. Bianca leaves and heads back downstairs. Geovanna and Miranda head back to Geovanna's room. Geovanna pulls the 'book safe' out of her pants.

Geovanna: "That was close. We're lucky Bianca came to tell us that Santa was coming."
Miranda: "I know. When did you put that in your pants?"
Geovanna: "Just in time, or else Santa would have saw that I have it."

Just then Geovanna trips, but catches her self on a table. She knocks a porcelain heart off of the table and it shatters into pieces. She sees a key, she picks it up and puts it into the 'book safe' and it unlocks it. She looks at Miranda and smiles. Miranda looks confused.
